hi wondering if any1 can help me work out return for golf bet,i backed keegan bradley at 66/1 â¬10 each way 1/4 odds paying 6 places, as he tied for 4th along with 4 others was wondering how do the bookies settle this bet as don't do many golf bets, is it like a dead heat in horse racing or do i get 1/4,
I have no idea what they do but if they were paying on 6 places then, if your bet had tied with with 2 others, it would have been simple (ie 1/4 odds). And had your bet finished 6th tying with 2 others you would have received 1/4 odds to 1/3 of your stake. I would imagine that, with 4th, 5th and 6th places each qualifying for 1/4 odds (ie 3 places), the 5 tied 4th places would each be deemed to have dead heated with 2 others (ie 5 places taken, minus the 3 available). That's just my guess but it should be covered in the bookmaker's Rules.
£52.50 works out a quarter the odds @ 35/1 mate - if they paid out on 8 instead of 6 they should have paid out @ 49.5/1 - I would query that return
OR £5 divided by 8 times 6 = £3.75 @ 16.5/1 = £65.63 Either calculation - they have short changed you
I thought it was dead heat rules ie. 2 places shared between 5... 2/5 place stake on at quarter the odds of 66/1 but that would return less than you've got there so I've no idea I'm afraid...
I'm at work at the moment but i'll get on will hil's live chat tonight and query my return i presumed i would get just over £29, as the intial return was £87.50, and then i'd of thought they divided it by 3 as there was an extra 2 places than they offered. But i dont know for sure
You should get £105 shortrun for that return on Bradley ok. Here's the leaderbaord 1.Kaymer -10 2.Fowler -1 2.Compton -1 4.Bradley +1 4.Day +1 4.Koepka +1 4.Johnson +1 4.Stenson +1 We have a clear winner and a 2nd and 3rd spot full with Fowler and Compton, even though they tie 2nd they fill 2nd and 3rd, we only need to fill 6 places as that's all bookmakers are paying. Now we only have 3 places to allow payment for and 5 player's all tied so we divide 5 (no.of player's) by your 10 pound each way stake (10 lost on win part) which gives us £2. Now as stated we need to fill ONLY 3 places so we multiply the £2 by the 3 places we need to fill which gives us 6. You took 66/1 on Bradley and each way that gives us 16.5/1 at 1/4 the odds, so then multiply 16.5 * 6 + 6 = £105. Hope this explains well enough.
But doesn't dead heat rules half the stake which would be 52.50 which is what smokin beau got in post 5?
The deductions take place in the stake relevant to the number of player's tied Robbie, as you see the original posters stake went from £10 to £2 by having 5 player's tied, then it just got multiplied by the 3 places that need to be filled and multiplied again by the odds taken on the player, which in this case was 66/1 / 4 = 16.5. In Smokins' case it is £5 divided by 5 (the no. of player's tied) which is 1 and then with 3 places needing filling we multiply the 1 by 3 which obviously gives us 3 and then this get's multiplied by the 16.5/1 ( quarter off 66/1) which totals at £52.50.
No wiser but I really enjoyed and admire all of the effort that people put in here. Very informative.
