Stayed here for a week, just before the beach and rock walls got washed away in the heavy storms at Warmberal NSW.
These photos from the tv cameras.
The council and govt have done nothing about it for years..... now, it’s nearly gone.

We’ve stayed there a few times over the past couple of years. About 4 years ago, the big storms washed away most of the rock boulders at the base. It happened to most of the 100 or so houses.
The council, in their wisdom, refused to repair all the frontages, plus they refused to allow the owners to repair them.
This season high tides ripped through and if you google ‘Wamberal beach erosion’.... you’ll see the damage.
Now, after this latest developments, the council have accepted responsibility and started the rectification works.
We were supposed to go there in October but that won’t happen now.

Is it Buttermere looking down from the Haystacks area?

Wherever, what a stunning day for walking in the mountains, you don't get many of them in a year!!

RTID - A little further round the corner from where you were (I think) taken in October last year when 20-25 of us descended on the lakes for a long weekend of hard walking topped off with and evening distillery visit. Weather and image not quite so good, not bad for an Iphone though.

Was up on Beachy Head yesterday, brilliant sunshine and amazing views of the Channel which was like a millpond, so calm where the sea merged into the sky on the horizon. I'll have see if I can find the pictures the missus took...

Quite right Sir! Buttermere in the foreground and Crummock Water further out. It was indeed a stunning day with fantastic clear views and not too hot for climbing. The day was due to end at The Kirkstile but sadly a poorly baby (grandchild) curtailed that plan.

Immense respect for my son who carried his toddler on his back most of the way and even more respect for his wife who carried a 7 monther most of the way up in a papoose!

On one of my previous trips to The Lakes we were staying at a very peaceful location but one morning woken early to a lot of noise and hustle.
Turns out John Prescott was staying there too and was being interviewed about the phone hacking fiasco. A while ago now.

Completely in love with The Lakes and could happily move here despite poor WiFi and often no phone signal. Wrong way from Loftus Road too of course.

A beach in the Outer Hebrides has been rated one of the top 25 in the world in a travellers' guide.

Luskentyre beach on the Isle of Harris came out ahead of the Virgin islands and some of the most photographed beaches in Spain and Italy.

Looking out from the upstairs main bedroom, a week before the storms............... Ahhh, the memories.
Note - You can see how much sand was there and that there is now, nil.

We started up on Newlands and did a Horseshoe to Robinson, Hindscarth, Dale Head, Honnister, Haystacks and off to Buttermere, ran out of time to do High Cragg and High Stile as well. First time 'proper' (in a Devonshire accent) walking in the Lakes, loved it! Same group were supposed to be going again this October, unfortunately cancelled.

Respect to your family, it's hard enough carrying a daypack over some of those peaks.
