I'm a bit disappointed Honeyman didn't get player of the season, seems those awards focus too much on goals scored by strikers. Did Clarke-Harris really have that good a season outside of the goals he scored? Thought the chances Honeyman created and the fact our attack was the dominant attack of the competition should have weighed heavily in his favour.
It's the same as the worlds best players normally people vote for strikers. Has a goalkeeper ever been classed as the worlds best player, or even been in the list?
Lev Yashin, who played for Dynamo Moscow from 1950 to 1970 and the Soviet Union football team, is the sole goalkeeper ever to receive the Ballon d'Or. Peter Schmeichel, is the only goalkeeper to win the Premier League Player Of The Season award, in 1996.
Don't know if this as already been posted but great interview with the Honeymonster. https://t.co/jXXE7NmLky?amp=1
Well done George, Callum and Grant .. but I have to say I'm gobsmacked that Docherty wasn't included .. he has been nothing short of phenomenal
Docherty for me is a steady player for the first 60/70 mins and then comes alive in the last 1/4 when everyone else is knackered.
while George and our front 3 have been mightily impressive.. I have to say for me Docherty has been player of the year .. he hasn't once let us down .. I cant recall him missing a game with injury.. his energy levels lift the rest and he does all the dirty stuff that allows the likes of George to flourish. Sadly those type of players dont get the true recognition they fully deserve.
A good listen, thanks for putting it up. George certainly comes across well, and the song gets better every time I hear it. Michael Duff also speaks well, and of cause, Greaves spent the last term with him, so nice to hear they got promoted after missing out in the playoffs last season.
