The bookies seem to think we will struggle - Ladbrokes have us joint 4th from bottom I think our side has potential, but will need the youngsters to "train-on"
Time will tell but given the likely strength of many other teams in this league if we can win a few games early on then who knows One thing for sure is that the Championship always throws up unexpected results and I can’t see this season being any different
We finished the second half of last season strong despite injuries, we have strengthened the squad, we have gained experience for the younger team members, our balance of youth, experience and desire is there for all to see, I am glad we are slipping under the radar and in the shadows, Nige has prepared this team for a strong and vastly improved season, it will be hard in the Championship but we are seasoned contenders there by now, I really am looking forward to this season, best I have personally felt since those fantastic Cotts days.
AS THE TRANSFER SEASON PROGRESSES.................. we see our signings, and are grateful? but would wish for more or better quality/ experience? When you look at the other teams and see their attempts at consolidating / revamping who they are buying getting rid of and make own "personal list" of who you think are 1 to 24th you try to ignore the bias of being BCFC and find that CITY are about 16th/17th! When I run my amateur logarithm city indeed comes out well out of top 6 [ previous seasons has done quite well ! programme that is ] SO a lot of work to do and some luck .. maybe a few penalties given ... and a few less goals conceeded in last 10 minutes of play time! [ 90 + etc ]
Supcon You miss the point. Wiz isn't comparing Leagues he's saying how he feels personally. I feel exactly the same. Those unbelievable Cott days playing, winning with a great brand of football albeit with no East End.
I was careful to put 'personally felt' they were great days as I hopre this season will be for us all. (RP I was texting this as you put your comment up)
I hope every season is, and wish all our managers had/ have success. I don’t disagree with the feeling of that season, I also felt that way about our run to the semi- final of the League Cup, and play-off push a couple of seasons later, even though we came up short in both.
It's great when we have true success like when we gained League 1 status under AD, when we beat Arsenal at Highbury with a great Cheese goal, Donnie Gillis goal against Leeds, Tinmans goal against Liverpool, all great memories and fortunately for me I am of an age to have lived through it but I also counter balance it with the 1982 failures and debacle, Pulis, Coppell, O'Driscoll and LJ periods. I could reminisce about Big John, Norm, Chris Crowe, Gerry Gow, John Galley but it's all history, I'm just a mere fan with my own historical memories,it's the future that counts and I really hope Nige does it for us all in 2023/24
The bookies NEVER favour us. We’ve been favourites for the drop ever since arriving in this league. I remember when we kept grinding out the 1-0 wins under GJ when predicted to lose every game, the Sun newspaper stopped predicting on Championship results. Bookies and pundits hate us - or at least don’t rate us - and are confounded when we win games.
I love how you include LJ in ‘failure and debacle’ Wiz. If you really are old enough to have witnessed those other failures and debacles then to call 5 years of Championship football without (apart from the very first season) any threat of relegation a ‘debacle’ is rather weird…..
I don't include LJ or the others with the 1982 failure and debacle and never have, if you wish to identify them this way that is entirely your privilege.
Lovers/haters can argue till the cows come home. There's never been player or manager who fractured the support of City fans like LJ. And it still goes on.
ran it through again , whilst following the cricket ...well done Somerset, with personal adjustments to teams ref managers and transfers [ assumed Ramsey was joining Cardiff / Sanderson Brum /] LEICESTER MIDDLESBRO LEEDS SOUTHAMPTON NORWICH BIRMINGHAM SUNDERLAND [ 17 pts spread ] WATFORD BLACKBURN MILLWALL perm 2 from to make top 12 ... WEST BROM STOKE IPSWICH COVENTRY SHEFF WED remaining 3 join for "middle of the table finish" SWANSEA BRISTOL CITY HULL CARDIFF RELEGATION bottom 5 PLYMOUTH ROTHERHAM QPR HUDDERSFIELD PRESTON top 7 all have different points a lot of teams have same points so not finishing order bottom 3 have different points
I feel positive about this season - more so than any time in the last 3 years. I feel (for now) we will be right up there fighting in or around the top 6.
Dark horses let’s stay under the radar-if Scott goes then the No9 and midfielder to replace Scott and a goalkeeper then it is game on.
according to the tgeam sheet we already have a number 9 ! I think we have already replaced Scott... under the guise of " not to replace him but play alongside him" comment a a week or so ago
dont thank me I just feed in info and a few hours later get a sort of result .. last 2 seasons ithas beat the super computer ....lol [ who cheat, ha ha ha by amending every cuple of weeks! ]
