On transfers: We have been really pleased, we have got who we have identified. It was really good to get them done. We are delighted on the whole. Planned to make four signings It was always on the agenda. It is important that the lads understand that their standards cannot drop. McCann on Lopes Energy, bite, aggression, the kid has got everything. He could be whatever he wants to be. He made his debut at 15, 16 and he has come on leaps and bounds since I have last seen him. McCann on Pennington Matthew brings a lot of competition to our centre-backs. He has played games in the Premier League for Everton and we are delighted bring him in. McCann on Elder Stephen has had a really good pre-season, Brandon has had a really good pre-season, but with the games in the Championship coming around fast, I didn’t want to put too much pressure on Brandon. I am delighted to still have Stephen Kingsley here. McCann on Magennis We have been chasing him for three or four weeks now. He is strong, quick, proven international player. Can play in any of the four areas, of the left and the right. Every single signing has shown an aptitude to learn even more. On Bowen and Grosicki staying I am delighted to see them here. Both of them have been great, they have knuckled down. I have spoken to both this morning. He (Bowen) is 22 years of age. There is no doubt that he will play at the top level. Now he can focus just on us. McCann on Henriksen There has been no bids for Markus, I am not quite sure where those reports have come from. It is highly likely that he could leave. It is the right thing for him to move, everyone would be pleased for Markus if he could set up with a new club. McCann on Greaves loan I am delighted. We could have sent to him to a team in League One, newly promoted. I am delighted that we could send him to Cheltenham, a club I know well with (Max Sheaf). We will have another look at them in January. On Eaves, Milinkovic and Honeyman Eaves got 60 minutes (against Lincoln) on Monday and scored. Milinkovic will not need surgery and has trained very well over the past couple of days. Honeyman will be involved this weekend, we will see whether he starts or not. On home record The home form is really key. We have got four of the next six. Home form is always important for any team to chasing at the top end of the table. On fan relationship We want to make sure we have a good relationship with the fans, because ultimately, they are the ones who can get us three points on a Saturday. My focus is on putting out a good team on a Saturday.
Strange comment re Henriksen. Has he been told to move on, or has he said he doesn't want to be here any more?
I've subsequently discovered that he's not actually available tomorrow and will only start training next week, though I'm unsure why.
He just said the most sensible thing I have heard from a Hull City manager in recent times. He likes square pegs in square holes. So no left back covering right back and vice versa. I like McCann already.
I get the impression Henriksen is being managed out. Despite not having moved on yesterday (I know a European move is possible) McCann told him he has been replaced.
Nice to see the club are up to speed - email at 4 30 headed Reading Away then 30 minutes later another one headed Reading Home - you'd have thought they'd have checked with the Ticket Office first - ---- oh yeah
But why what's gone on I wonder? It one thing to not fancy someone as your captain and choose someone else but he seems to be saying its time to sling your hook son.
His family not being here is probably getting to much of a distraction for him, he's obviously going to feel a little anger in the fact we triggered the years option rather then just letting him leave but we would have been daft not to imo
