Are you thinking of the very similar looking building about 50yds further down Whitefriargate, Silvers? Because this place has been empty ever since the bank left.
I was thinking of the building at the corner of Silver Street and Lowgate, was Dirty Dick's as of May 2019...
I get that some of it is about location, but that's governed by other factors anyway, but it's bonkers that we have pubs standing empty, and other buildings getting repurposed to be pubs.
From having a very quick view of the plans it looks like the actual bank building will be the offices and the bar area down a side passage at the back of the building. Seems a shame if the grand architecture inside the bank was lost from public view but I suppose investment is better than nothing.
Said from the off that it was only a money saving ( paying staff ) excersise in regards to Welly and Polar bear shutting.
Could be time for the Universal Basic Income debate to be revived. I don't think many of these lost jobs will come back.
