It's one of those where you'll lose a lot of small stakes on him scoring, but the week he finally does will be ****ing sweet....
Hope not, did well against BPool.... Unlike Georgie and Smallwood giving suicide passes to young Reece....
First **** game Smallwood had. Honeyman the assist king of the division too, so doubt we'll just drop them for their first real bollock-drop of the season. Folk focus on the KLP saga for the successive losses before Xmas. Also coincided with George being out injured. George is key. With no direct replacement we seriously miss him. Perhaps more so than Keane not starting. Crowley is that backup, but Crowley is more versatile.
There's no way Crowley is coming as a back up. Expect him to take some of Doc's minutes as well as some of Whyte's/KLP's too. I'm also starting to change my tune on Eaves. His hold up and link play has got so much better this season, especially recently. And his movement and getting into goalscoring positions is better than Magennis'. I know Josh is suffering badly since covid, and he's had a great season but Eaves is a massive loss for us. If we could just sort Eaves' composure out, he'd really be some striker for us. We've been linked with Stockley today at PNE but I do wonder whether he's better than any of the other 2. Regardless in the short term expecting to see Wilks play central, we can't keep playing an unfit Magennis and we now have quality options.
Agree about Eaves. A No9 is pivotal to our forward line though. Doesn't matter if they're not 'better' than we have. We simply dont have a fit one at the moment. Wilks will work through the middle if there's space behind he can run into. If they defend deep then we'll miss even an 80% fit Josh or Eaves.
Frankly, I'd take a back to goal lump to bring the best out of the wide forwards and false 10's we now have. There's enough goals in the side given the right kind of foil to play off.
Eaves is only missing for another month or so. Against a deep defending team, playing Crowley instead of Doc should give us a bit more cutting edge there, him and Honeyman will make things happen
It's ball retention up top and the ability to lay it off left and right against big centre halves that concerns me. With the additions made, we have enough goals in the side running from deep and coming in off the flanks to top score in this league, so long as we have that kingpin no 9 who can play with back to goal.
Difficult to call this one, they are playing well, though we should be buoyed by KPL & Crowley signing, so hoping for a good performance and a win. Whyte should also start if fit enough, though Terry might hold him back as 2 games in quick succession might be too much after not playing much of late. I know Wilk's is not a true number 9. but Magennis after his Virus situation must still be feeling the effects from this, so Terry might go for Wilk's up the middle and KLP and Whyte on the flanks if Whyte is okay to play?
Great new yesterday with KLP signing. Don't know too much about the lad from Brum but by all accounts he's a talented player. We have to win tonight we can't be 1/8. GM can have no excuses its his team and we have a strong squad at this level. Big 7 days not only for the club but for the coach.
The pitch will be a factor tonight... The manager has been complaining about it for weeks... well today its not going to stop raining, expect it to be attritional. No pretty football tonight it'll be by pass the middle...
Lincoln v Gillingham postponed. Could go top with a win tonight, then again Donny, Peterborough and Pompey all at home too, could end up 5th. Toit.
Smallwood performances are getting worse, couple of times BP player lost him in attack.... he needs to sit deep like Alfie does. A far more accomplished player, all Smallwoods attributes, but with mobility too.... Crawley has come to play, different to Slater....
