No point trying to play football in this league unless you're a team that's just come down with premierleague players. We'll get out muscled and closed down by most teams in this league. It's already clear as day how to beat us
Like I've said Ingram is the busiest keeper by a clear mile. After todays game to only concede 15 overall is pretty good going with how many shots he faces. We need to be tighter at the back.
United we’re far the better team especially in the first half. City really did not get a look in and our midfield were poor and failed to create much. And did not improve until Seri came on (although him losing the ball led to the goal). Oscar was very good especially in the first half and showed some good hold up play but of course he missed a gilt edged chance as did Tufan. Both chances were created by breakaways not creative mid field play. Not that there is anything wrong with that it just emphasized United’s mid field domination. Pelkas showed some good touches when he came on. And I look forward to his full debut. Longman was dire and Figueredo also. Time for Macloughlin? . Coyle had a poor game and failed to create anything of note down the right side If I remember right Baxters distribution is better than Ingrams if so it may be time for Ingram to have a rest. And see if if we can be more creative from the back starting with the goalie
Well Harsh to drop Ingram, but is there something about a keeper marshalling his defence that isn’t working at the moment? We could easily have been up at half time though and then it’s a different game. just arrived home to Mrs Tash listening to Pink Floyd. Mrs T ‘alright? How was it?’ Me ‘…we’ll I haven’t had enough to drink to be comfortably numb yet!’* *actual conversation
So once again we concede a goal through pissing about with the ball in our own half. FFS - how many times do we have to prove (or have it proven to us) that WE CANNOT PLAY THROUGH THE OPPOSITION'S PRESS? Seems to me that every game we are presenting our opponents with goal scoring opportunities because we want to play like Man City - or as some would have it "The right way." Well, it's not the right way if it's the losing way. Out of all the players we could have signed this summer we should have gone for a "JOHN SMITH" type centre half - someone who is willing to just hoof it into the other team's half instead of 10 passes each to a man who is under pressure when he receives the ball and then the ball eventually going back to the keeper who hoofs it anyway.
Figueredo might be a centre half and he might be good with his head, but he certainly isn't comfortable with the ball at his feet. I thought there were several times in the first half where Oscar, Coyle and Tufan made runs and indiacted where they wanted the ball, but the player on the ball was too slow or didn't see them
We did He's called Figueiredo He's been told to do something else though... Might work long term...TWT
Time he started ignoring that and playing his natural game - I've never once seen him comfortable with the ball at his feet
Figueiredo almost gifted Ndiaye a goal with his ****ing about. Didn’t look like a foul from where I was sat so he got lucky.
He slips all the time, was posted yesterday he’s the worst performing centre back in the league aerially too. So what he’s meant to be good at he’s not doing either
Jesus. It's times like this when I feel almost embarrassed to be a City fan when I see some of the knee-jerk ****e being posted. Yes, we weren't very good today. No, we're not going to get relegated. Back on Planet Earth, I know Sheff Utd were sitting back by then but I thought our passing out from the back improved markedly when McLoughlin came on. He will pass forward if there's an opportunity, when Fig is in that central position it only goes sideways or backwards.
Just before his mistake he did really well heading back to the keeper under pressure from Mcburnie, showed good strength and composure in that moment.
With coyle and elder in this formation this season there's no winger in front of them to pass to or track back as we've got a narrow front 3 which is making their lives incredibly difficult. Loads of times today they got the ball with no one on apart from a pass back to a cb
