Clobber: got a much ridiculed jumper from there in mid 70s. In Prozzy Centre (where Wilkos is now?) also Virgin Records was there in 1977.
Cosa Nostra pizza shop on Holderness Road, near to Crown. Best pizza I've ever had and I've tucked quite a few away in my time.
Not a missed shp but the Vets on Holness Rd where Rovers ground was. Is it still there? The vet there in the late 80's was a great bloke. My dog got run over he was in the vets for over a week, broken leg n pelvis. Bill, 30 quid. Great bloke. Did it for the love of it. Now that'd be 3 grand easy.
Absobloodylutely. Al Capone pizza. Ham(real ham) onion, artichoke(first time i'd ever even heard of one) chilli spices and loads of garlic butter. Best ever. Proper psycho was Danielle the owner. Got done for brandishing a shotgun. Right up your street mate.
Just round the corner from City Hall, sure it was Clarke's, gets a mention in this. Happy to stand corrected though. http://www.hulldailymail.co.uk/flas...l-1950s-hull/story-18563556-detail/story.html
That's the one, and I thought Royce was in K.Edward St, opposite what used to be Woolies, not opposite Cheese as mentioned earlier.
Royce was in both sites, in fact they had three shops in Hull at one point and thirteen across Yorkshire.
Peters of Hull and Hull Kawasaki Centre. Used to visit every Saturday morning to see what I couldn't afford. Picadish? Pet shop next to Star of the West
There was an engineering workshop just down from Peters. You'd go to Peters to get your new, oversized piston+rings then take it and your old barrel to the engineers to get it bored out, scooter stuff this by the way.
Tony's?? Sweetshop on Bev Rd near Baths. Go swimming, then Cave St and then see what we could nick from Tonys...
Western Jean Company down Whitefriargate Padgetts Camera Shop on Saville Street Barry's ex juke box record stall in the Market Turners (Everything but the girl) on Beverley Road Pools Corner on Anlaby road & Newland Ave
