Discarding the superstitious hex the vex nonsense, fun though it is, perhaps our most important 'must win' game is on the horizon, while we watch others hopefully drop a point or two. Our next match against Hull will be in 12 days time, not an eternity and after a well deserved break. It will be Hull's 3rd game in 8 days and they will have travelled long distances with 2 away fixtures before we arrive. Just like our challenging period a few weeks ago when our form seriously dipped. To echo Spanish and others, I say again that the toll this all takes physically & mentally is significant. And we will have own Manager of the season bristling with confidence. 3 cheers for Kieron, hiw lucky we are to have him! This spell for Hull includes a 300-mile roundtrip to Coventry on the Wednesday evening prior to our match the following Saturday. They will still be in with a shout so they have to go all out in all their games to keep their playoff hopes alive. We'll have had two weeks of rest and recovery, hopefully on a beach for a few days, maybe with Burnsy and Hirst back, and Clarke too. Yes we all prefer him and his attacking style to the likeable Tuanzebe. At the end of such a gruelling season, this will be a huge advantage for us, and gives us every chance of picking up 3 pts. So we will need to be at our most aggressive, direct and free style passing game from the off. We need to maintain this style into the 2nd half, exhaust them, bring on the right subs and run them off their feet. Our controlling, quick passing possession, pace and intensity has been great to watch much of the season. We will win this match. Bring it on. 2 - 0 Town.
Go on Gaffer! Spanish did the last few match threads, which we didn’t win, so he’s clearly going stale Let’s hope Leicester and Leeds both continue to drop points in the meantime. I think they both play twice before we go back on the field. Three must win games potentially coming up, automatic promotion still very much in our hands. The players and staff definitely deserve a break and a chance to recharge batteries for the home stretch. I’m more optimistic about Hull than Coventry, going for a nervy 1-0 win to Ipswich.
I’ll come and make a prediction nearer the time. We could be only needing one win to seal it or three straight wins and I think what the other three do over the next two weeks will affect our mentality.
Two of us going to Hull and as long as we dont fall back into that slow motion, tippy tappy, sideways and backwards passing nonsense as we did for some reason v The Budgies i think we could do well to get a point, we must play a high tempo down the flanks and get the ball in the box style of game after all its what we do well and has worked so well for us this season, also subs will be vital at the right time to keep the tempo up and the pressure on.
Watch the EFL Championship goal of the Season again-it all starts with this tippy tappy sideways stuff!! And once again in all its glory……
Tippy tappy sideways stuff has led to many goals this season and is fundamental to how we play. Let’s not forget we’re top of the table playing that style of football. I saw a montage on Twitter and there were at least 16 goals that started passing at the back a fair bit. As long as we’re in control and creating chances, it works really well. We got too cautious playing it against Norwich then panicked and resorted to aimless long balls.
