Didn't think we were rivals any more. I see fungus thinks you will come from behind and win the league, as you're the ONLY team in the PL capable of doing it. Class

 

Why would you think United and Liverpool weren't rivals ?

 

Why let what he said get under your skin? There no point. Dalglish isnt backwards in coming forwards about Utd

SIR ALEX FERGUSON is entitled to say whatever he wants about Manchester United in his latest autobiography. His words. His prerogative.

But there were a few things about the book and its timing that surprised me and many others, including United fans.

For a start, Sir Alex has written so many books already I’m not sure why he chose this one to settle so many old scores.

The timing is bad. It’s a bit strange to bring it out now when the new manager at the club needs help and support.

The publication of this book and the upset it has caused at Old Trafford is hardly the greatest support Davie Moyes could have asked for.

It was a bit odd to see Ferguson’s comments on some of the players who had served him so well and brought the club so much success.

Sir Alex made a big contribution to the recent glories of Man United but so did players such as Roy Keane, David Beckham and Ruud van Nistelrooy.

It was sad that Sir Alex felt the need to attack them in his book after everything they had done for him and the club.

As a manager, you are going to cross swords with players over the years and fall out with them. It is bound to happen.

But why dig all that up now and berate them in public? Sir Alex did not need to settle any scores because he brought tremendous success to the club.

Anyway, it is understandable that some players wanted to move on from Old Trafford. It happens.

After all, he did not hesitate to offload them when he felt they were of no use any more.

It’s up to him what he says about United. It was his club. But I did find it interesting that he saw fit to dedicate an entire chapter of his book to Liverpool.

A lot of people would have preferred it if he had dedicated an entire chapter to the Rock of Gibraltar instead.

But there were only a few words about the racehorse and the controversy that caused so much upset at United and was part of the reason for his fallout with Keane.

Then Ferguson said Liverpool captain Steven Gerrard was not “a top player”.

Considering he tried to buy him, it’s a strange statement straight away. Maybe he’s bitter that Steven didn’t want to go.

Ferguson must be the only person with any knowledge of football who does not regard Steven as a truly world-class player. Steven’s performances over the years have spoken much louder than any of Ferguson’s words could.

He has acted with class on and off the pitch.

Maybe what’s eating Ferguson is that you can only imagine the success United would have had with Steven in their team. It’s frightening.

And it would be scary to think of the trophies Liverpool would have missed out on without him.

It's all outrageous.

 

Because for all of the last season, most of your lot were saying we were a mid-table club and didn't warrant any attention. That's why.

 

You weren't title contenders last season but you were still rivals and always have been

 

I was surprised with the content of the book and have commented on it but I really couldn't give a **** what he has written that book is now in the past just like Fergie.

 

He's just winding you up, mate, because of all the times some Utd supporters used the same jibe against us when we were outside the top four.
We're not so stupid that we don't realise we could easily drop a few places and you could climb a few.

As for Fergie's book, I've already said I think his record speaks for itself and he should have just left it to do the talking, but it seems in this age of media saturation everyone thinks the entire world needs the benefit of their opinion.
And the more controversial the better apparently.

SAF loves giving his opinion, I think because he knows how much it pisses some people off.

Really though, it's how the rich stay rich by churning out things like this. He'd sell more now whilst he's still fresh in the memory than he would if he waited 5 years so he's just feathering the nest for his family and who can blame him .
