We need an experienced striker in the door ASAP and not last minute. I won't hold my breath though. This is the 3rd transfer window without signing a decent experienced striker. If we fail again.... we'll end up joining Yeovil.
Harry Anderson has joined on a 2 year deal. 63 goals in 200 appearances for Lincoln, RS MF He joined Lincoln in 2016 when they were in the National and has won 2 promotions with them as well as being part of the team that won the EFL cup in 2018
If Wael has connections with Chelsea maybe he can arrange for us to sign a GK who isn't drawing his pension and or a striker who can get us 20 goals next season, hear that Tammy Abrahams is looking for a new club and at our level he ought to score 20 / 30 goals in a season well we can but dream that a striker who knows where the goal is will appear and a RB might be useful as well
With a squad size of 20 players 21years and over, Rovers are 3 players over that number with only the no 2 GK included in that list, we still do not have a Striker or a RB. I would say that the future looks bleak for Hargreaves, Barrett and liddle, under 21s not included in the 20 registered players
I really had hoped that Barton would have secured a decent striker straight away. This was the position he banged on about that needed sorting. It's the position where it was our weakest link last season. The fact that our squad is already oversized by 3 and we still don't have THAT striker, season already looks bleak for the team because I can't see us getting a decent striker now. It will be an u21 on loan so don't effect the squad size and therefore won't have much experience meaning we will be in the same boat as last season. Or will sign someone with experience but with a Tom Nichols record. Crap. I will be very surprised if we even get a striker.
Yesterdays trialist GK was James Belshaw currently with Harrogate, other clubs are looking at him. Harrogate have signed a new GK so have given permission to talk to other clubs at 30 years old he should have good experience behind him, be interesting to see if he wants to be a no.2 or a 1st choice keeper
So that leaves a right back and an experienced striker still to come in, plus we need to offload some players in order to do so. According to the BP it looks like Barrett and Ayunga are nearing the exit door.
Wont shed any tears if Barrett goes, but if he take Harries and Baldwin with him there might be tears of JOY, Would like to see Ayunga go on loan for a season and get some goals think it would do him a power of good
Nichols I believe would have prospered under JB as he seems to want attacking MFs and that is what Nichols was, he was not a striker, he was however I believe a good player and since he left has scored goals Ali Koiki on trial at Northampton Koiki has now signed for Northampton and liam Armstrong has signed for Gloucester City and Mullins our striker target has signed for Wrexham
That’s freakin bonkers. Mullin scored an absolute hatful last season and basically got Cambridge promoted, had loads of interest in him from sides further up the league pyramid and then ends up at National league Wrexham. Sure, they’re owned by Ryan Reynolds but why drop out of the Football League?
Talking of Wales - today’s friendly Rovers v Swans is off due to covid cases in the Welsh camp. Looks like Gasheads are going to have to wait even longer to see the lads in the flesh.
