With the ridiculous money on offer for getting to the Prem IF we achieve that then it would be foolhardy to sell any of our vital players .
We wasted millions on crap that we are still paying for so any potential big money replacements would come at a massive risk.

Fulham spent nearly all of their pot and ended up with a worse side than last season .

Aarons is a tricky one. If he's worth £15m now, that could double if we're promoted and he proves himself in the PL.

Far better to get relegated after just one season and use the parachute money to rebuild wisely than to shell out mega-bucks on a waste of Scottish space - and STILL end up paying the majority of his extortionate wages while he plies his trade for another club! <grr>
The most ill thought out piece of transfer scheisse of my entire lifetime - given that we're not a cash-rich club. :emoticon-0106-cryin :emoticon-0121-angry

If we go up, sell him (if he wants to go). £15m will get a good replacement RB and a decent goalkeeper, either as No 1 or back up to Krul. And still have a little loose change left <ok>

He got knackered playing in Scotland so got sent back to us to pay for his surgery before he decides to stay at Hearts or go as a free agent to America .

I can see Aarons spending much of the season on the bench at Man City Spurs or Arsenal with a few league Cup outings.

IF we fail to go up then he will go 100%

Any new players will have to adjust to our style of play. IMO, we'd need consistency from the start with players playing as a unit with instinctive passing and positioning and use the PL money to strengthen where we need to but also build for the future.

We could do that without selling Aarons and our chances of staying up are much better if he stays.

    Some fantastic posts on here.
My gut feeling is that we'll have a much better idea of whether or not well end up in the automatic places once we've played Boro at the end of this month.
I'm HOPEFUL that most of the current squad will want to stay, as the team spirit and togetherness is exceptional - probably even more so than in 2010-2011.
    I'm quietly confident that -
    a. We'll be promoted (going up as Champions would be 'the icing on the cake').
    b. With a few additions to the squad and without spending many £Ms, we can stay up.
I'm sure our scouting network has identified who we want to try to sign.

I agree it's tricky and I think it'll be a finely balanced decision based on a lot of factors over and above what the fans see on game day.

As IFML previously mentioned young fast solid attack minded wing backs are crucial in the modern game .

If we sold Aarons for £15m and paid £5m for a replacement and he turned put to be average at best .
We may need to shell out again until we get someone anywhere near the same level.
Also Max was the first English player to be introduced to our first 11 putting pressure on the home grown quota.
Seeing as we sold Madders or offloaded Pritchard Bennett Ruddy Howson and the Murphy's selling Max and even Godfrey would leave us with Cantwell as our only English player.
Rhodes is on loan and Scottish Jamal a Northern Irishman.

He has only played a few minutes of football due to injuries so the jury's out on whether he can make the step up same with Cantwell really .
Wouldn't be surprised if we released both of them .

    I hope they can btw

We, alongside Newcastle and Southampton, are tracking Recoe Martin, an 18year old striker at MK. Scored 5 goals in 17 minutes. Not sure if that is in the same match or in total, but for theirU18 team I believe.
