Villa have disagreed with the description of "doing a Fulham", but it looks like it from here? It looks like Mings could be the only surviving member of their back 5 (New GK, Targett - Mings - Hause/Konsa - Guilbert). Then currently an unchanged midfield 3 (which perhaps lacks steel?) with a new CF and winger up top. Both scoring and defending rely heavily on teamwork, going to be interesting how long it takes them to function as a team. Particularly if more fresh faces come in.
Ah the illusive Superman what an arrogant tw@t he is, blocked me on Twitter because I dared to disagree with him, right up his own arse he is
Farke expects quiet final 2 weeks of the window: https://www.skysports.com/football/...e-realistic-over-norwich-transfer-limitations Suspect Webber still feels he has some work to do (Marshall, Husband, U23's in and out), and I wouldn't be surprised if there's another first team addition - it's remarkable how little we've spent.
Depends how much all those new contracts cost us. The whole squad has basically been given Premiership contracts.
Cant believe we wont make at least 1 more signing!! We are desperately short in the DM role. As stated before, Trybull has had issues with injuries and Tettey is on his last legs! If we don't sign someone new (and improved, I would say) I will be extremely worried about our prospects this season. I hope i am wrong!
I'm sure if needs be Godfrey can slot into that position, I'm not that concerned if we make no more signings.
And what if we get injuries at the back as well? We already have Klose and Zimmermann injured. I know its ifs and buts but id feel a lot happier with a decent DM or DM/CB signing so Godfrey can focus on his role without us worrying about having to possibly play Hanley. He is a great leader but lets face it, he aint a great baller.
I'm happy to leave any worrying to Messrs Webber and Farke, especially as worried is the last thing they seem to be!
I think we're better prepared than I can ever remember. In terms of quality and depth of cover in just about every position I'm more than happy. You'll not get me worried Bedford
I'm much the same, HM. I do still wish we'd signed that guy Ajayi from Rotherham, who ended up going to West Brom but that ship has now sailed, sadly. I'd still like a DM - ideally one who has covered the CB position as well, but they don't grow on trees. Still two weeks to blow a big(ger) hole in our "war chest"
We're either going to be lauded in the press for doing well in the PL on one of the lowest ever spends in history or slated for not spending enough if we go down (a la Karen Brady). Not much in between as I see it.
When we signed him, I was never sure it was going to work. Glad he's got a move, and Newport is a really decent Club to join.
I mentioned this possible deal earlier in the week, here it is confirmed. Just another 15m from Villa. https://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/football/49117347
This is a possibility. Ajayi has gone, but Kristian Bielik on loan from Arsenal could still happen. He played both CB and DM for Charlton last season and did really well. I'm not worried about this as I'm happy with Trybull, Tettey and Thompson as well as Hanley as the fourth option at CB. He's slimmed down and done well in the pre-season. Bielik on loan would provide a further comfort zone though.
BBC gossip page: Aston Villa are on the verge of making their 11th signing of the transfer window - and taking their summer spending to £120m - with an £11m move for Club Brugge and Zimbabwe midfielder Marvelous Nakamba, 25. (Telegraph)
