Ins, Outs, & Rumours

Lots of rumours around Tayo Edun going out on loan, with Ipswich, Barnsley & Shrewsbury all linked. That make a lot more sense than the previous rumours of an MLS move - Tayo needs first team football and he's not going to get it in the Premier League next year; a loan suits all parties.

 

I'm wondering if the sale of Kalas & Piazon is being held up because Chelsea are still to decide on their manager.
Doesn't sound as if Targett is leaving Southampton, so we are back to square one needing a left back.
Guess a lot of the lower clubs are waiting on a domino effect before they can start their buying.
There's a few links in Scottish papers with Celtic's Belgium international Boyata who hasn't renewed with a year left on his contract, plays Centre back or Right Back.

 

Hope we stay away from Boyata, terrible defender.

 

German papers are saying that we're stalking Hertha Berlin's left back Marvin Plattenhardt

The 26 year old International was part of the German team which bombed out of the World Cup. The stories list a number of clubs that are interested and to be honest can't see us forking out £22m for a left back.

 

And the Italians are reporting that we're interested in Milan's centre half Mateo Musacchio.

The soon to be 28 hasn't played all that often since Milan paid £18m for him a year ago, so there might be a bargain in there somewhere.

Not too strong at math but I think that equates to 1 player per 745.74 season tickets, so looks doable to me guys. Or were the tickets dearer?

 

Just to illustrate how much we need to start recruiting, the new Fantasy Football player lists went live yesterday. At present Fulham only have 12 players listed (although bizarrely Christie isn't among them, along with Woodrow, Cisse and Djalo).

 

I wouldn't be entirely surprised if Djalo and Cisse stayed at this point - even if we signed 6-8 players, we'll still be no where near the 25 man squad!

 

Whatever the credence of these rumours, you can't say we're lacking 'ambition' in the quality of the players we're being linked with. Here's today's offerings:

I was only saying this to Mrs 2 stripes earlier.
She then pointed out several of her team are yet to return for training following or still taking part in the World Cup. No one like a smart ..... bottom.

 

Matt Targett isn't in the Fantasy Southampton list either - although he did start for them in a game in China last night and despite Bertrand also being in the team. Tad confusing !?

 

Its nice to see that we are extending the contracts of our regular squad,.
But rumours are what they are,until i see a signature on the dotted line they are still rumours.
We should be having players on board now to bed them in to our required style of play.
Our present 1st team squad is smaller than most of the teams in the championship,true or false.

 

It's easy to be linked with players, it's what journalists do. It's what agents do.
What you need to do is sign someone. Be careful you don't become a stalking horse.
If you're not careful you'll have plenty of ambition and half a team.

 

It's an issue that goes with being a London club with a rich owner. We'll be linked with absolutely everyone who is looking for a richer contract (Joe Bennett, for instance) so it's hard to pick the real story for the many rumours. That can work to our advantage but the real risk, as you say, is that we spend so long focusing on players out of our price range that we miss on good realistic targets.

 

Half the enjoyment on the forums are the rumours.

Interesting point of yours there though. Do you think being a London club gives you an advantage or disadvantage?

Don't know what Warnock says, but he gets players to want to be at his club.

I suppose that's how you get the right players. They're not just there for the money.

 

It's an advantage in getting players in the door and in keeping them. It's a disadvantage in that players/agents believe we have much more money than we actually do, which probably creates some false expectations (for example the link to Seri, which is just unbelievable to anyone who knows anything about us!).

My point was more that I don't think we had any interest in Bennett this summer, but his agent created some rumours to get more money from you.
