A lad over in 'the other place' reckons that his club has lost 5 lads off the panel from last year. That is a serious drain and a real worry. People still remember how rural clubs especially were ruined by a mass exodus of people. If that was the death knell, then this could be the death rattle. I remember when Aisake came back from oz, people were looking down on him a bit because he was a professional athlete and now he was working ion Champion sports in Cork. People jumped to his defence saying that at least he is back and at least he has a job. I thought that kind of snobbery was reserved for soccer players. Things were different then, even just a couple of years back. The GAA used to be able to cater and protect its brightest and its best. A job in a bank or with the post office was the usual way of it. Not so any more. Its a sad time for anyone to be out of work but when the jobs for the boys thing doesn;t work any more, then its time to worry.
