the question is not whether telling racist jokes is racist but whether it is racist to tell a joke about a racial minority. opinions please admiral <muir>
To state the obvious, it depends on the content. So, in the same way a joke about a car is not necessarily saying the car is ****, I guess a joke about a racial minority does not necessarily say he/she/them are **** - ergo it's not necessarily racist.
thats pretty much my opinion <muir> surely it depends on the sentiment behin it. are scotish man english man irish man jokes racist? i have a black friend who we regularly wind up about being black but because it is meant as a joke this is not racist in my eyes.if i was in england i would expect to be wound up about being scottish but if i were to do the same to an indian i could expect to be jailed.
Precisely AP. Some of my best friends are fuzzy wuzzies and they say the same. In very poor english of course.
This is a prime example of a non-racist joke that people say is racist: Now this could be construed as racist by someone with no sense of humour. But it's not racist, it's true. There are millions of black folk in Africa. Does anyone disagre and think this joke is essentially racist? I don't, I just think that in the past this joke was told by racists.
Is this rascist. Two guys standing at the bus stop and one says to the other when's the next bus due, to which the other guy replies, in about 10 minutes ya black bastard.
I found that thread quite interesting. The language seems antiquated for just twelve years back. Not heard nig nog since that crap sitcom in the 70's.
