Sheff Utd fans don't seem to know where he is. He's registered and nobody knows if he's injured. But recently they've not even named a full subs bench and he's not even been on there. Sound familiar? One can only imagine there is lots going on with him that we aren't privy to.
I do remember getting a hammering from Sheff Utd fans on twitter when he signed for them, being told he was a scapegoat at Sunderland, that he was only **** because we were ****, and that Chris WIlder will sort him out.
Not sure if their fans did the same, but when he signed for Blackburn it was all our fault. 'Yeah their fans were on his back no wonder he gave up there' 'he is a class but who hasn't failed at that basket case club' etc... Then they see him for what he is and are shocked. I know he will be on no where near what he was on here and is probably that little compared to rest of the squad they see it as worth the risk. They are wrong anything more than pay as you play is a waste on him and more than he deserves. Bet if he was on £400 a week with a £25k appearance bonus he would manage a few more games. Although it would be 90 mins of marking himself out of he game by hiding behind opposition players.
If he is still making money from football, his agent needs to be studied by every sales professional across the land.
there are some who would 'all but kill' to get even half the opportunities and money that lad has had through football...yet he threw it all away and simply lived for the money and somehow was allowed to work himself a system that meant he could do the very least he needed to do while still getting well rewarded. those of us who have done our stints of factory/labouring/outside graft and HAD to earn every penny will never understand that attitude, i hope he just fades away and lives out his life as best he can, never to be mentioned on any football programme except to be used as an example of everything that is wrong with football!!
I hope that when the money runs out or reaches its limit of what happiness it brings him and his family he reflects on what he's thrown away with his horrendous attitude. If he was crap and had conned his way through a career in a way I'd have to congratulate him but he'd actually have been a decent player if he could have been bothered. Sad.
Very sad. How many of us would have given anything to just once pull on the red and white stripes and play for Sunderland? The answer is all of us. He was given that chance and threw it back in the faces of every single one of us.
Didn't he refuse to play for us any more because he was being played in midfield and he reckoned he was being played out of position, wanting to be a defender? Compare his attitude with 09 who would probably even turn out between the sticks if he was ever asked. I can't say that 09 is anywhere near as talented as Rodders was (to be honest, I can't remember seeing Rodwell play well, but City must have seen something there at some point) but I know that I would rather have 09 in my squad than Mr Hide!
Look at it from his point of view. An early developer, he looked like he had a stella career ahead, Then, after this brilliant start, it all just ran out of him. In any other job he would have looked at re-training for a more suitable way of earning his living. But he WAS a Footballer. For the next six (?) years Clubs kept on offering him 'loadsamoney'. Perhaps he genuinely though it would all come back to him with a new challenge. In reality he settled for a comfortable life. After all it wasn't HIS fault that these Clubs gave him the contracts. Footballers are regularly told that theirs is a short career and that they need to take advantage and make the money while they can. IF EVER THERE WAS AN EXAMPLE OF HOW THIS COULD BE DONE, THIS IS IT. I can not think of a better example of 'laughing all the way to the bank'. It's the idiots that gave him the contracts that are to blame, rather than him for taking full advantage of their stupidity.
It's entirely his fault that he was/is a lazy bastard, and a parasite, that took advantage of these idiots, without a care for us fans, though
