I see that Dortmund were 3 - 1 down at Augsburg today when they decided to put Haaland on. Within 20 minutes of coming off the bench to make his debut he had scored a hat trick and won the game for them. Is it correct we snubbed him because he was going to cost 4.5 million?
What chance have Championship clubs got, when a player at Watford, who can't get a game is on £80k a week and they want us to pay the whole amount plus £2m loan fee. Unbefeckinglievable
Oh don't get me started. Far too much money in the premiership that's the cause of all these problems
I was trying to work this out myself, they say the PL is worth an extra £150m - Do we assume that all the Watford players are on this sort of wage? If just 11 are then that is just over £45m a year in wages. Then you'll still have your reserve players who have to be on at least £30k a week surely? I'm going to say 10 players on £30k a week so another £15.6m - Without other staff and increased expenditure you are going to be lucky to have £80m to spend on players, it might seem a lot but I was thinking about our current squad, if we went up is £80m worth of signings enough to keep us up?
Maybe we should be looking down instead of up for players. We got Roofe from League 2 Oxford. We are supposed to have a good scouting network.
There was talk a few weeks ago that his advisers Were telling him not to go to Scumchester and pick Leeds or another championship club cos of a lack of pressure. The release clause was stupidly low for the most coveted young talent in Europe. If Orta and Bielsa did turn him down then they're both retards
Looking like someone as been messing around with Andre Gray's wiki page, they've got him down on loan to us. Probably the same one's that had Nketiah in a Bristol City top last week
Everyone’s arguing on other threads, myself I’m wondering what happened to the Man City winger Poveda? Thought he was set to make a decision last Thursday
Club sponsors 32 Red tweeted about Leeds near to signing Gray with an option to buy, the tweet has now been deleted https://the72.co.uk/155207/leeds-united-sponsor-tweet-sparks-comments-on-shades-of-gray-deal/
With a £2M loan fee and paying his £80k pw wages till the end of the season it amounts to about £3m which is roughly what it cost for Nketiah so this signing could well happen.
I agree and 32Red are paying part of Rooneys wages, who knows? They sponsor Derby, Preston, Leeds and Boro realistically only we have a chance of going straight up. They do not sponsor any PL team at the moment, there could be something in it and why remove the tweet. They signed a two year shirt extension deal with us in June 2019, could be a cheap outlay for them to see their name on a PL team shirt
Is anyone confident that Gray signing will improve us? Even if he turns out to be good, how long before he's making a contribution? As I understand it, he's not been playing a lot, so will need time to get match fit. Add to that the time needed to learn Bielsaball, can we really expect anything from him before March, even if we sign him tomorrow? I think people are pinning too much hope on signing him (or any other individual for that matter). The team is sick - not just 1 player. A sticking plaster doesn't fix a broken leg.
Not seen this rumour before. Never heard of him. And not a striker, as it happens ..... https://tbrfootball.com/leeds-fans-react-as-club-linked-with-norwegian-talent-emil-bohinen/
No I’m not confident, he is short for a striker, no threat in the air and won’t be as quick as Nketiah. For me, it would be that we have a reserve striker to call on. Bielsa will still start with Bamford but with 15 minutes to go we’ll have a striker to call upon, I’d hope he would give the team a boost with his presence. We’re not going to bring in better, Che Adams is younger, still a short arse and plays midfield or forward, we really need an out and out striker
If we were signing someone for the last 15 minutes, I know who I'd advocate signing. Matt Smith. Impact player, tall, built, can head or shoot & is only worth it for 15 mins when everyone else is tired. Add to that, he's cheap & expendable once we go up. My second choice for this role would be Crouch. He's perfect for that. When I listen to him, I still hear boyish enthusiasm. He's there to bring out of retirement if you can excite him. Playing for Leeds with Bielsa & the possibility of being a lifelong legend would surely do that, I feel. 2 cheap & unexpected long shots. Either or both might work. But we'll never know..... *sigh*
