Well I hope so, at least a bit of quality, better than a finished player not good enough for the prem for sure.

Phil Hay reckons Adams may well happen but Southampton want £1m loan fee and a guarantee to buy at the end of the season for £10m. Leeds want to do the £1m loan fee but only commit to buy at £10m if we get promoted but our hand is being forced. So if we do this we are in trouble if we dont go up FFFP rules. We are already outstanding £15m for Costa and Phillips was being used as guarantor for that but having another £10m causes problems and will be a big gamble. Remember we wanted Harrison for £10m and £5m for Meslier, so problems or a fire sale.....

Seen Harrison is £8 million and Meslier £3-4 million, the club never say but allow rumours, to pretend they are spending money they haven't.
We brought in £13-14 million in the summer and never spent a penny, FFP is bullshit, don't believe we are even close.

Is there no way we can get out of the Costa deal.
Say Wolves sold us inferior goods.

The Poveda deal could also be a commitment to buy. Hes out of contract in the Summer so its either an outright buy now or a loan with a commitment to buy. Poveda has only played once for Man City first team and has refused to sign a new contract because Pep sent him back to play for the U23s. Looks like a bargain

Chesh it depends on the contract value not the sale value for FFFP, so it depends on how long was left on their contract.

I know what the FFP is, you are allowed to spend up to £39 million over your income over 3 years, I don't believe for 1 second we are anywhere near that.

That's the old style FFP, Chesh. They've layered it now with different penalties at different levels. The 'entry level' is surprisingly low, if I remember rightly. Think it was Doc that was the expert on it.

We brought in £13-15 million and didn't spend a penny, so unless ffp is you have to make a £40 million profit every 3 years we aren't close, there's a reason the club never disclose how much we sell or buy for, they don't want the fans to realise how much they have cashed in and how little they have spent.

Got my numbers wrong, Jannson, BPF, Jack Clark, K Roofe, S Saiz, the 2 we sold Barnsley and a few other small sales £25-26 million brought in and £1 million loan fee paid out for Eddie. So about £25 million profit and 16 players less on the player squad size saving the money we've probably spent on better contracts, so just £20-25 million profit, even if my numbers are out, we are no where near ffp.

Think you need to read this to get up to speed on the tightening up of FFP.

    https://www.mikethornton.xyz/new-ffp-tests/

Test 1 is if your combined profit/loss for the last 2 years accounts. If you have a LOSS OF ANY AMOUNT, you fail test 1. We failed. Then it gets tougher .....

Btw, we didn't bring in £13-15m - clubs pay over a number of years.

Also, "didn't spend a penny"? Do you think we get loan signings for free? Have you forgotten how much the loans cost, without even thinking about the wages? Approximately £12m!! - £3m for Eddie, £2m for White, £2m for Harrison, £2m for Costa, £2m for Clarke!!!! £1m for Meslier (all educated guesses - can't remember the precise figures, but can't be far out).

Finally, if we didn't have our fire sale, we'd have failed. Even with it, we racked up a loss of £36m over the 3 years.

We paid £1 million for Eddie and don't believe the numbers for the others, we took in £26 million not £13 I hadn't included Clark, Saiz, BPF and lot's of other small sales, don't think we will have paid anything for Clark, part of sale deal, nothing for Meslier, you don't pay to loan u23 team players unless you are stupid, and don't think we will have paid for white, he was playing for Newport last season, no one will have expected his success.
The club deliberately leave all transfers vaugue, and it ends up we over inflate what we pay and under estimate what we sell for. EG the club allowed everyone to believe we paid £12 million for Bamford and now it's come down to £7 million.

The only ffp we are close too is over 4years of profits and losses, but this doesn't include any of the upper limit loss allowed with owner putting funds in, which is still £39 million, so going by that we are still £39 million short of the upper limit + profits from last summer. We are probably the only championship club with no income being put in by the owner.

Chesh we actually brought in just over £30m in the Summer BUT THATS A PAPER figure because it doesn't work like that. That £30m will not come in for a few years yet as each deal is spread over the term of the contract which is usually 3 years on average. So in reality as an example we would have recieved £10m but would also be paying out for players we bought too even as far back as Cibicki, LDB etc. In fcat most of those players we sold this Summer we are still paying for. So player trading in the accounts is declared in the financial year and is accrued in liabilities. For example we may have just broke even on player trading for all those players we brought in and sold this Summer but still have to accrue for next financial year and the following financial year. So we will be due £10m in on this Summers sales but still have liabilities for players we brought in too.

recommend you read Mike Thorntons stuff as he is linked to the club and understands everything around the new FFFP rules. Our wage bill has doubled in the kast 18 month too and all our players are now tied into long term contracts and the value of each contract is also accrued and declared in the accounts. So many on 4 year deals so would be a quarter value of each declared......

LOL. "The club deliberately leaves all transfers vague", yet you appear to know all the numbers? Aye, right! <laugh>

We paid a damn sight more than £1m for Eddie. I read a number of reliable reports that we paid £3m,and recently £4m. Not sure if this included salary. He was on £50k a week, which we were picking up too - as is Harrison. Don't believe we're getting a discount on him now with the latest agreement. (Interestingly, the £8m figure being bandied about is only for us, I believe. We've already effectively paid a downpayment with the loan fees, so to speak, plus pay his wages, but other clubs haven't, so it'll be well over £10m for them, I'm guessing.

However, I'm not going to get into an argument about all this, as I'm in possession of as many facts as you are. Which is bugger all. :)

If I remember the numbers Mike quoted it goes something like this: total allowed losses over 3 year cycle is £37m
    17/18 £14m loss
    18/19 £12m loss
19/20 £?............... but we can only afford to lose another £11m

these numbers I fear are conservative

    All true Doc.

But our income (apart form player sales) is not spread, it's a 12 month period...1st July to 30th June.

That's why we await with interest the figures from last year 2018/19 due to be announced in the next 2/3 months. It has to be a record year for income given how successful we were in filling the stadium and extra sponsorship deals etc etc.

If the club delay the publishing of the accounts it's because they are praying we'll have been promoted and therefore no one will care. If they back up that we're close to breaching FFP then expect them to be announced next month.

Phil Hay on his latest Podcast with the Square ball guys stated that Eddie had a £4m loan fee which is paid in instalments over the season. We have paid £3m and that should be it. We are also picking up his full wage and also Harrisons full wage. We now save Eddies wage and Clarkes wage who was also a £1m loan fee and £35kpwk.

Adams will be £1m loan fee plus full Prem wages then a £10m transfer fee in the Summer. Costa was over £1m loan fee and his full Prem wage with a £13-15m agreed transfer fee in the Summer
