it’s largely the 4 draws recently combo’d with a an upturn in form for Norwich which has caused some dissent. I knows it’s all ifs and buts but we get a result out of Preston or Birmingham or both then I don’t think there’s quite the sharpening of pitchforks that is happening. The expectations shifted dramatically after January. We have improved and I would say the home games have been better bar the Swansea game. Personally I think people are preparing themselves for failure rather than just enjoying the ride. It’s going to be a fun end that I suspect will come down to the last minutes of the Plymouth game at the very least
It would be great if we could be as successful as Brighton and Brentford but our analytics and scouting is absolutely light years from there’s.
Only one of those draws really was a disappointing result though. Everyone else was above or around us.
It is now, it wasn't when they were Championship clubs. There's no reason we can't emulate that with the owner that we have, an owner who is looking to adopt a multi-club model just like Brighton and Brentford do.
Just listened to the 1904 podcast with Baz talking to Stuart White. He said quite clearly Billy was brought in to help develop Delap. How's your luck! I think whatever happens this season it has been a better one than I anticipated, and on balance I have enjoyed it to date. Yes I have been frustrated as most have but in the bigger picture we are moving in the right direction. I doubt we will see much of Connolly as the assault by Gunn has really taken it out of him, We might see Delap, maybe, just a bit. But can he hit the ground running. Personally I doubt it. So we have Ohio (young and inexperienced) and the established players like Tufan and Carvalhio. Let's hope we can get the rub of the green in the last 9 games. Get behind whatever 11 are out on the pitch and see where we get to. UTT
"Manchester United will look to bring England's entire coaching staff to Old Trafford this summer." Why?
I would be ****ed off if he went to Man Utd, I suppose in this day and age though it’s probably the bigger job. At least as far as finances are concerned anyway.
I just think it’s going to be very hard, these two clubs are outliers due to both of their owners being literal geniuses in the field of statistics and betting.
Setting up a multi-club network isn't the difficult bit, it didn't take long for us to establish a link with AS Roma. The issue is the quality of player we look to bring in as a result of those link ups and whether we get value for money.
Yeah that’s what I mean, they’re not successful due to the multi club model (just look at Watford), they’re successful because Tony Bloom and Matthew Benham are geniuses in statistics and betting. I think we’re being naive thinking if we just copy these clubs we’ll have the same success. I guess there’s nothing we can do but just wait and see regarding our transfers going forward.
At the minute, it's brought us shared scouting and marketing knowledge. And it stopped there. But my point was that it took no time at all to set up because our owners are well connected. I was looking at the Slovenian clubs, there's a couple of them that are fairly big and get into European groups on the reg. Olijmpia Ljubljana, Maribor and Celje (beautiful city by the way). Wonder if Robert Koren has anything to do with the potential link up?
