Yep, looks like we're all going to have move fast for Sharp - it's not like there wont be a queue for him. Snooze you lose. I did know that there was a release clause in his contract (it was announced back in the Autumn), but I wasn't sure on the price. But now we know it's £3 million (which I'm pretty sure is actually slightly less than what we offered back in August - think our accepted bid then was about £3.2 million)
Hmmm I wish it were true and that he would consider moving down here. Unfortunately my gut feeling is that he doesn't want to come to us and or we won't get him. Am I right in saying that he complained that we moved the goal posts re the wages we were offering or am I thinking of someone else?.
To stop any speculation about a possible outgoing rumour, Lallana on Twitter: "Was a great game to make my 150th start for the club, hopefully hundreds more to come. Would love to be a #saint4life"
What career? , how many games has he actually played for us?. Agreed four is alittle greedy but who knows what will happen apart from the Don and Adkins.
I spent an evening with mr beattie recently at leeds airport and he is very good friends with Billy Sharp - apparently he wanted to come but Cortese lowered the wages so he stayed put. Apparently he has been speakign with us since though and said that he had offers from us, WHU and Boro'.
I do wonder exactly what Adomah is like. I've seen enough of Matt Phillips to know that I like him, and I think he's a really class act. Adomah though, I just don't know enough about. He's fast, and seems to be having a good season. That's all I know.
A friend of mine is a Hull fan and is generally quite reliable with stuff to do with them and he seems confident that they have had a bid for Jay Rodriguez rejected, so there may be some competition if we go back in for him in Jan
Cortese must learn to close a deal..remember that CB (?) who was on the verge of joining then pulled out over contract details. Don't expect us to pay silly money and store up trouble for the future, but do we want promotion or not. How many millions is promotion worth?
Yeah, at the start of the season I didn't think Sharpe was worth £3.5M, but, I now think he is. He's not just a very good player, he's a very decent human, lots of attributes that would fit in very well with our squad. Saying that, if he rejects us again & stays with Donny, he'll lose no respect from me.
If he stays at Donny then I wouldn't lose respect for him, due to the fact of what he has been through. But if he went to a team like leicester I would.
