Did he mean Elliot Ward - Fonte came along and was a better option, so the Don told EW to go elsewhere.
Yeah I think that Jemal wanted some of the fee, or his previous club did. Something around those lines!
Yeah, I thought the Jemal transfer fell through for this reason (ie wanting to make sure that his original club, who were due a slice of the fee, receieved a decent amount), and the Fontaine transfer fell through due to a medical issue. Still, it's all worked out fine as we got Hooiveld.
An article on Puncheon. Nothing we didn't already know though: http://www.fulhamchronicle.co.uk/lo...set-for-talks-over-qpr-future-82029-29983463/ My stance on this still hasn't changed. I want him back and playing for us again.
It's true, but what the Burnley chairman actually said to us, was something along the lines of 'I'd rather sell the club, than sell Rodriguez to you', so I don't think we're bothering with another bid. It looks like we're going for Sam Vokes from Wolves instead, along with a kid on loan from Man United.
I agree brendy re Puncheon. It all seems to depend on wether he can re-build a decent working relationship with Cortese and Adkins, sadly I don't think it will happen.
If there was any chance of a reconcile he would have been brought back already imo. He's not playing, & we could do with more options in that position. I fully expect this sad episode to drag on, until he finds another club, probably on loan again. Very frustrating indeed.
Yes, it was Jemel. He thought Cortese or the selling club were trying to cheat his previous club out of a sell on fee. Was about to sign but asked to see a breakdown of the figures and he was refused. Don't know what was going on but I guess it shows Jemel had principles. Wasn't there a similar rumour going round about the signing of Adkins. We'll never know the truth because Nicola never believes in commenting on gossip.
That's a little bold to be saying that, Fran..? I would imagine Cortese could give us all a lesson in how to close a deal. A deal that is right for SFC and not quite so much for the other side.
Probably I used the wrong words..really meant I wish he'd close a deal in January. Sometimes you can't get a perfect deal, you have to compromise.
I see what you mean. Yes, I worry whether someone like Cortese would gamble over spending less than the required amount of money, to seal a deal, and hence take chances with promotion. And, as you said before, how much is promotion to the PL worth..? If I had to trust anyone to make the right decision regarding spending the required amount, then it would be Cortese. Mind you, what is the minimum required amount, to maximise the chance..? £1M, £3M, £6M, more..?
I hope we buy Billy Sharp. I don't think we will but he seems like a really honest family man which would fit in with the clubs image and staff alike
