A truly fantastic ambassador for the beautiful game, advocate of the three points for a win rule which changed football for the better, will be sadly missed, football needs more like Jimmy Hill.

In one sense , never forgave him for his antics at Highfield Road where we were relagated because of a 'fudged' draw - (Coventry v Everton I think!) in other respects, yes, quite entrepreneurial and way ahead of his time. Overall sadly missed. Still begrudge him though!

Way off the mark there Thurnby
The game you refer to was Cov v Everton
played on a Sunday after we had played
    on the Saturday.
Everton had already won the league
    and fielded an understrengh team
    and lost, 4-1which relegated us.
This resulted in FA changing its
rules so all the final day games kick
    off at the same time.
    Certainly not Jimmy's doing
I think it was 84/85 season

Quite correct BB, if I recall correctly Cov had to win there last 3 games
to stay up and did so somehow??

I think that was 84/85 the year we won the Milk Cup against Sunderland
