This was pinched from Timeform. Laura Pearson has been singled out as an up and coming jockey by Timeform, having achieved 6 winners on the AW in the space of 7 days. In December she posted 11 winners for a strike rate of just under 30% and a level stake profit of 43.33, the highest achievement of all jockeys on the flat. Not bad for a 7lb claimer. She had 2 rides for the Blake barn yesterday. Neither figured but it will be interesting to see if they continue to use her, and her claim, in the future. The yard regularly use up and coming apprentices/conditionals (delete as appropriate) so she must have done something right, in their view, to get offered a chance with them. In the past they have used both Megan Nicholls and most eyecatchingly of all Harry Cobden in the days when he was a 7 lbs claimer.
Benoit de la Sayette , impressive strike rate , especially on older horses , rides stylishly and with a cool head .
