http://www.qpr.co.uk/page/NewsDetail/0,,10373~2586272,00.html R's skipper Joey Barton has hailed fellow team-mates Akos Buzsaky and Tommy Smith for taking their opportunities under new QPR boss Mark Hughes. Buzsaky and Smith both scored stunning goals in Saturday's 3-1 victory against Wigan Athletic at Loftus Road and Barton believes both players are reaping the benefits of being given a 'new lease of life' under the new gaffer. "Tommy and Akos didn't always play under the old regime, but they've been given a new lease of life and good on them for taking it," he told www.qpr.co.uk. "Akos's was a great strike from a deal-ball and Tommy's was just an absolute wonder-goal. "I was fortunate enough to be behind it as it flew towards goal and it was a top, top quality strike. "It's great for them as individuals and we're reaping the benefits as a team." Barton has been hugely impressed by Hughes and co. since their arrival in W12, with the R's players already buying in to the new methods and techniques being introduced by the new backroom team. "They've got their own way of doing things," he said. "It's certainly a lot different to those things I've been used to in my short time at the Club. "There's obviously a different ways of doing things, and the lads are already really embracing the new methods." Rangers welcome West London rivals Chelsea to Loftus Road on Saturday in the FA Cup fourth round and Barton is calling on his team-mates to keep building on the win against Wigan last weekend. "We've got a big FA Cup tie coming up this weekend and we'll be looking to crank it up another level," he said, "This is only the start. We can get a lot, lot better. "The more days we have with the new gaffer, the more we'll improve and have more days like last Saturday." Good to hear
I am glad that Joey is glad that Buz and Tommy are buying into the new regime and taking their chances....How about Joey doing the same
"They've got their own way of doing things," he said. "It's certainly a lot different to those things I've been used to in my short time at the Club. Another veiled swipe at Warnock!
No - just saying things have changed! What IS it with the suspicion on this site at the moment? There's so much leaping to conclusions, you'll be changing your names to Dalton Grant and Jonathan Edwards next!
Not in the statement.... but from his performance on the pitch. Unlike Buz and Tommy on saturday...The only decent performance I've seen from him was in the short time he had on the pitch v Norwich....(and no I don't blame him for getting sent off, that was a stitch up) and it ruined his first decent match performance. imho
This! Sounds like the guys are buzzing, why do we persist in looking for negatives. Move on and lets get behind them.
"We've got a big FA Cup tie coming up this weekend and we'll be looking to crank it up another level," he said, "This is only the start. We can get a lot, lot better. "The more days we have with the new gaffer, the more we'll improve and have more days like last Saturday." Notice how JB uses we in these last 3 quotes so he IS including himself and sees the need to continue to improve, what more do people want!!
That's an oxymoronic statement You couldn't have got used to anything except to keep the bench warm from getting too many cards, Joey! It wasn't much of a paradigm shift seeing as you decided to not help NW try to win games but rather have him protect you whenever you got into hot water, seeing as that's how decent of a man NW is!
