They just keep coming John Carver and Andy Woodman apologise for their reaction to Newcastle United fans' calls for Alan Pardew to be sacked Newcastle assistant manager John Carver apologises for remonstrating with fans who unfurled a 'Pardew Out' banner at Southampton last weekend Goalkeeping coach Andy Woodman says sorry for sending 'ill advised' message to a supporter on Twitter Fans were in open revolt against manager Alan Pardew as Newcastle were thrashed 4-0 by Southampton at St Mary's A large scale protest is being planned for this Saturday's match with Hull Newcastle assistant boss John Carver and goalkeeping coach Andy Woodman have apologised for their behaviour towards fans at Southampton last weekend. Carver objected to a 'Pardew Out' banner in the away end at St Mary's and was involved in a verbal altercation with a fan. Woodman, meanwhile, sent an 'ill advised' message on Twitter to a supporter who he says had abused him. please log in to view this image Newcastle were beaten 4-0 to leave them bottom of the Premier League. In a statement released by the club on Thursday, Carver said: 'My sole focus on Saturday, as it always is, was on trying to gain three points for Newcastle United and preparing the players to the best of my ability. 'This included keeping them focussed on their roles and duties in the upcoming 90 minutes. In the warm up, I was disappointed to see banners that could, in my opinion, distract the players and take focus away from the job in hand - namely winning the match. 'I went over to our fans to ask them to help us and requested that they take the banners down. The vast majority of supporters back the team through thick and thin and I am very proud to be one of them. 'I was met with abuse from one supporter and I regret that I responded inappropriately. I sincerely apologise for any offence caused by my reaction. Every fan is entitled to an opinion, positive or negative, and I respect that. I hope fans will understand that I, like them, only wanted what was best for the team. 'I am proud to work for my home town club and would ask every supporter to back the players and all staff, as they really can make a difference.' Woodman added: 'I am very sorry for the ill-advised comment I posted privately on Twitter on Sunday morning, which was subsequently made public. 'It was never my intention, of course, for my response to enter the public domain. 'My response was a reaction to significant personal abuse I received from a number of fans which I felt exceeded that which was fair and balanced. 'That said I understand my response was unacceptable and I regret my actions and apologise for any offence caused.' http://www.dailymail.co.uk/sport/fo...tle-United-fans-calls-Alan-Pardew-sacked.html
There is an article kicking about where one fan took him up on the offer to "chat like men" and turned up at the training ground on monday "to have a chat" and security turned him away
Haha, class. You do feel for Carver a bit, a genuine die hard Mag who probably knows as well as anyone how hapless Pardew is, but has to force on his game face every day. Actually, scratch that, **** him. Haha/
Boom!! http://www.chroniclelive.co.uk/news/north-east-news/lifelong-newcastle-united-fan-turned-7780348 Lifelong Newcastle United fan turned away from training ground when he went to see John Carver I particularly like the 35 year old said "i've been supporting newcastle for 20 years" (just after sky invented football in 1992)
please log in to view this image A lifelong Toon fan was turned away from the training ground despite a senior figure inviting fans to discuss the club crisis ‘face to face’. John Carver, Newcastle’s assistant manager, angrily confronted fans ahead of Newcastle’s 4-0 drubbing away at Southampton on Saturday but one Magpies fan decided to take him up on his offer to discuss the Magpies’ performance on Monday morning at the club’s Darsley Park training ground, in Benton. David Sanderson, of Shiremoor, forked out more than £400 in travel and accommodation to see his side slump to their second defeat of the season which leaves them with just two points from four games in the Premier League as the club are rooted to the bottom of the table. The 35-year-old taxi driver said: “I’m one of the supporters who went down to Southampton. “There was some positive singing towards specific players but as soon as the banner was unfurled saying ‘Pardew Out’ Carver came over. “He was shouting and said to go to the training ground and discuss it like men. “I took it up on Monday morning but I was told by the security staff that there was no way I could speak to him. “He was taking part in training, they said they were fully aware of the situation and the best thing they could do would be take my phone number. “I didn’t expect that.” David, who is self-employed, said the trip was a ‘waste of time’ and had left him out of pocket with him missing out on a morning’s earnings. Fans have been vocal in their criticism of both team and manager this season and David said he has been stunned by the behaviour of some of the club’s most senior figures. Despite the offer from security to pass on his phone number he said he doesn’t believe the second in command at St James’ will pick up the phone. He added: “I’ve been supporting Newcastle for more than 20 years, I’ve been following the club since Willie McFaul was there. “I feel disgusted. I spoke to Sir Bobby Robson on numerous occasions and he was an absolute gent, he was full of passion. 20 to go and I'm going to go get my arse published with a novelty book.
Speaking of thick hahahahahahahahahahaha Reason # 81 Ffs talk about covert!! Getty Images It didn’t take long for Newcastle to pick up right where they left off: in trouble. After a strong start to last season, Newcastle collapsed down the backstretch, losing 14 of their final 20 games and settling for a 10th place finish. The club had high hopes of repeating a top-ten finish, but things are off to a very rocky start at St. James’ Park. Newcastle sits in last place in the Premier League table, earning only two points in four games. Following an embarrassing 4-0 loss to Southampton over the weekend, Pardew refused to talk to the media. This upset the fans even more, prompting a protest to be formed for Newcastle’s upcoming match against Hull City. A group of supporters have formed a “Sack Pardew” website, which has spearheaded this whole movement. The website allows fans to donate to the cause, and also allows fans to sound off on the club. Below is an excerpt from the group’s mission statement, via SackPardew.com This is why Alan Pardew is not the correct man to take Newcastle United forward. He cannot make us proud or make us believe that he can take this great football club in the right direction. There have been far too many unsavoury incidents, contradictory statements and disastrous results for his tenure to continue unchallenged. This site documents his failures as a manager and will continue to highlight them until there is a change. Signs calling out against Pardew and management were seen at the match against Southampton, and will be even more visible this week. One of the group’s leaders said that the protest would take place peacefully and safely, as the group has required all proper legal documents to stage the rally. “We have 200 banners, similar in size to the ones you saw at Southampton on Saturday, that are currently being completed at printers around the city. They are small enough to conceal so we can get them into the stadium, but we don’t want to go down that road.” Owner Mike Ashley has also come under fire during Newcastle’s recent run of play, yet he has refused to allow angry fans to influence his decision-making. While Ashley has reportedly said Pardew may have until Christmas to make a claim for his job, the supporter’s want a move to be made immediately. With only one win in their last 15 matches at home, Alan Pardew’s side must earn all three points against Hull City this weekend. If the Magpies see another defeat at the hands of a lesser side, it may be the last time Alan Pardew coaches at St. James’ Park.
Was incredibly relevant on this occasion. 35 year old man supported since 1992, I never bring it up but this time it is appropriate, simple as that!
I'll put that in on stand by incase nothing better comes up. Provisional 81. Got the link fella, I'll need to reference my source and will need to refer back. By gum the hilarity is endless
