Henry was often the cement in the team, linked things up simply when nobody else was when Ale wasn't playing, and since he's been gone. Good luck King Henry 1st!
Please don't take this as patronising (there are others on here much better at that than me), but I think this sums up many people's misunderstanding of the position Henry plays. It really is a very specialised position and people saying that he couldn't/wouldn't pass forward or be more progressive should ask themselves how many players , in that position can do all that and the holding job too. Not many at this level. I am getting a little concerned that Ollie appears to be falling out with some players. I must admit, I'd have hated playing under a nut-case like him.
He's 28. Decent record at Millwall but I can't say I'd be ecstatic. I'd rather keep Polter if that's the choice.
I assume you ctrl+c and ctrl+v that from the Polter thread...or vice versa..... I agree with what Col posted above, Henry's role was the dirty job, breaking up play, disrupting the opposition, doing the simple stuff like passing the ball (sideways if necessary) to a supposed better player to do the flair bit. Maybe that's where some fans have got confused....... Plus no one deserved their own fans giving them abuse.......sometimes fans get the club they deserve......
I certainly won't be sorry to see the back of Henry, who I think is a very ordinary player (forget the sideways passing, he isn't even very good at breaking up the opposition's play), but I do find it odd that he should have fallen out with Holloway with just six months to go on his contract. I wonder if Holloway decided to pick a fight with him 'pour encourager les autres'?
He wouldn't be the first manager to freeze out a player not in his plans to try and free up funds. Will another club take him? Swindon are missing a central midfielder.
I'd hope not; it'd imply dressing room cliques once again. Plus I'd hope Ollie'd have the cojones to just get rid of anyone not up for it straight out rather than mind-gaming. I agree with what you say re Henry. I'll never be a booer but he was slow, clumsy and lightweight in the tackle and even his oh so slow, ever so heavily telegraphed sideways passes were a lottery. He never lacked the trying though and never hid so I'll thank him for that and wish him well.
Compared to Sandro actually making half-time was a reasonable performance. Let's just hope this is the last dross clear out for a very, very long time.
Trust me, Gregory,s exactly what we need. Similar to Austin. Obviously not as good but someone I have been campaigning for, for some time. Is 5 times the player that Polter is. For eg how many goals would Polter score in Millwall,s team? Not many. I have also heard it,s o,briien not Gregory we,re getting.
He hasn't scored that many in his entire career? It's pretty poor we don't have a 20 y o in our ranks that is as good (bad) as Polter.
