I'd love to see them all again, I miss them all! However, players that stand out for me are Lambert (back in a saints shirt), managed by Nigel with Harding, Hammond, Richardson, Guly and Barnard. I won't name the PL desertees as we see them regularly.
Agreed. He was a huge part of some of my best ever Saints related memories, and he should be a part of Kelvin's testimonial, bud sadly too many of our supporters would probably be incapable of moving on. For the record, I have no objection to a bit of light booing when he turns up at St Mary's in a Liverpool shirt. But if he did turn up for this he should be welcomed.
Well put, but I don't think a football crowd, intent on making a point at every opportunity, would notice the distinction. Best he wasn't anywhere near St Marys. Besides, there will be plenty of players to welcome back otherwise. I would love to see Papa Waigo again. In fact, he's got to be there. We need to put that message out there.
Did he not play in the second L1 season then? He helped us win a trophy though, that's good enough for me.
It would be me too, just pointing out the club have called it "promotions" - I don't recall him in the sash kit.... But he may have. Memory ain't what it used to be.
Just googled Papa Waigo. Apparently we had an option to buy him at the end of the 2009-10 season (he was on loan from Fiorentina) but didn't take it up. Wiki doesn't speculate as to why.
The league's linesmen begged us not too... Worried about repetitive strain injuries from too much flag raising
I actually swore that if we ever made it back to the PL, I'd never again complain about the standard of officiating; one abiding memory of L1 was overweight ref's and lino's always half a minute behind the play.
Testimonials don't float my boat. (Bah humbug, buggers get paid too much etc etc) BUT I would love to have been at this one. However, will be away as it is after the last match of the season (after which the missus insists we fly South for summer. Considering divorce, but seems a little drastic). In any case, mid-week is a bummer for fans who have to travel. I am already getting supporter envy at the thought of seeing Morgan and Rickie in a Saints team. Kelvin was not always loved (QPR, Kelv, QPR!) but won his way into our gallery of club legends with his loyalty and superb performances in League One and the Championship. So yes, this is one I would have been at, and hope that the stadium rocks that night.
