What has happened to Keane ? Did he watch the recording of the Everton FA Cup tie where the BBC pundits were blowing smoke up his arse and made him MOM when he clearly wasn't. He was not interested yesterday never got into the game once. He is nowhere near as good as Jarrod Bowen was when he was here and needs to buckle down and play. He was absolutely class at Preston in the first match of the season even the Preston fans were applauding him but is a shadow of that at the moment.
KLP is also about 18 months younger than Bowen was when he broke into our team, surrounded by far better players than KLP is now.
It’s a bit harsh that assessment but he was anonymous yesterday. He played with the classic City habit of standing on the touchline near the half way line watching a player with the ball come towards him.
Anonymous? Had some terrific moments in the first half, but yes faded second half as did the rest of the team.
I feel sorry for klp, he’s playing wingback which isn’t his position. He gets dragged too deep defensively, I’ve watched a few times when we play 3 at the back. At times he’s stood alongside greaves, he must be ****ed at times. Constantly chasing a number is tiring, our cb don’t take responsibility. Experienced cb would tell greaves it’s his job to Mark players and let klp push on. Equally seeing eaves etc up front and him not getting a chance up there must be hard to take
People were saying this a few weeks ago. Then he had some good games and suddenly he was loved again, and now he's had one poor game and suddenly he's crap again. People need to slow down and think sometimes. There doesn't have to be a scapegoat or a simple answer to why we were **** yesterday. The team on the whole were bad and I think there are wider issues than an individual player's performance.
He's a young lad learning his trade, but as ever with these young lads, they believe the hype a lot quicker, he just needs to get his head down and concentrate on his football, the rest will fall in place for.him.
Why would you put that ? It was his opinion, may differ from yours but an opinion all the same….I totally agree about the MOTM award against the toffees, at least 4/5 players far more deserving but it was their opinion…
Wasted out wide. Should be playing slightly behind a big target man who can play back to goal. Unfortunately we don't have one in the building. Anyway what do I know? Andy Carroll's free.
He's a young lad and will blow hot and cold sometimes. He does need to stop the moaning though and flinging his arms around when things don't go his way both when it's his fault and when it isn't. He feet need to remain on the ground and realise he isn't all that just yet ... He can be, but he needs to earn it. A spell out the side for him last season worked wonders for him, potentially needs to maybe happen again, it's just a shame we don't have the squad to allow it
Saying someone played poorly isnt the same as saying he’s crap. Surely most people arent saying he’s a crap player.
Im one of his biggest fans mate but he was ****e yesterday as was everyone, aside from Williams. He barely touched the ball.
People are saying he needs to get his head down, he's believing the hype and so on. All of that is over the top. Reality is, as you said in your other post, he just barely touched the ball. Same as most of our attack. It's hard to get into a game when your team is struggling as much as we were yesterday. I'm not saying he doesn't deserve his fair share of the blame, but I think there are much bigger issues than him and fans turning on a talented and committed local player every time he has a quiet game is embarrassing.
yeah again I dont think commenting on someone’s performance in a game is turning on them. It’s a few fans on a messageboard saying he played a bit **** (or that he played well) in post game discussions. He isnt getting jeered at matches and having dogshite posted to him
Watched Tymon a bit yesterday - he's matured enormously since leaving us. It's an eternal debate on whether younger players are better off getting "developed" in the thick of it in the lower leagues, or being exposed/challenged by better quality players. I suspect there is no single right or wrong answer, it's all dependent on circumstances, clubs, managers and the players themselves - some will respond better by getting the **** kicked out of them, some will do better by having a good example to follow. And some will want to follow the money. So as far as KLP is concerned, I don't see that much progression from last season. Whether that is because he's playing out of position, or any other factor I don't know. But if I was him/his agent I'd be wanting to get better and asking the question whether he'll do that here or elsewhere - just as Tymon asked the question four and a half years ago.
Someone, maybe someone like Hudd needs to take him aside and say to him, 'what did you want to be when you were growing up'... he will of course say 'a footballer' to which the answer is 'well congratulations you are. BUT. Professional football is different to playing in the park or being the super hero in the u23 team. You're getting paid for doing something you love and people are watching you and your day will come. BUT they will also note your tantrums, your off days because those days highlight your weaknesses. You have to be at it when others aren't. Thats what will get you out of this club, not walking around about to cry because things aren't going your way'
