Summerville looks a great player but he seems to lack belief when he plays for the first team. Hopefully that will improve with time.
Well as expected we take off our better players to save them for the first team bench and thats been the story of the season. Summerville, Greenwood and Drameh taken off
The lack of actual game time for the players you've named plus a few other U23's is definitely perplexing. No game until Sunday and still dragged off with barely a sweat on.
I just dont see the mentality of what we’re doing this season. When you get a chance to put out a full team of top players and dont take it? You use a handful of top players knowing you are going to take them off at half time when these players really need to play as all they do is sit on the first team bench. Your couple of better players smash it and give you a big lead and then you take them off and you lose or draw the match. Dont get it especially when we dont have a first team game for another 4 days?
WHU V Leeds Utd U23s at Rush Green (Behind Closedor) 7pm WH atop a couple of points above Man City, whilst Leeds languish second bottom. We drew 2-2 at TA back in Sept but we are playing with a loaded dek at the minute due to first team injuries depleting our 23 team I hope we see a nearly full team tonight which should include Drameh, Summerville, Miller, Fernandez should get some minutes as Gelhardt is injured and Greenwood may be kept back. McCarron, McKiinstry, Jenkins McGurk, Allen should feature as we have a week before the next first team game. The match can be seen on LUTV
Half a dozen real 23s rest are kids from the U18s and U16s and only using 4 outfield subs means Charlie Alllen will come on in the 2nd half but besides that you just have to hope the kids stand up and try and do a job but we have one hand behind our backs every game
3-0, I was reading the blog and in the first half we were sort of in the game especially with 2 or 3 good saves but in the second half we just appeared to run out of energy
We know what the problems are: Cresswell Gelhadt Greenwood Drameh Summerville Bate Hjelde Kennh All missing from the starting linenup
This is going to be another shytshow because we have an important league match on Monday and a first team match on Sunday so guessing plenty of U18s and 16s tonight and why we were beaten by Wigan in September Leeds United's U23s have not been exempt from the injury troubles plaguing the first-team of late. The young Whites have seen their ranks depleted and sapped of full strength, owing to the numerous absentees at senior level. As a result, the youngsters have been required to fill out Marcelo Bielsa's matchday squads, leaving Mark Jackson a second string, U18-heavy squad to pick from in U23 competition. Nevertheless, the team predominantly made up of teenagers has fought valiantly in recent weeks and there is hope they can produce a similar performance to the one which saw them go 3-0 up at half-time in this competition against Sunderland. Tonight's opponents Wigan Athletic defeated Leeds 2-1 back in September, therefore revenge is very much on the menu for the U23s. Kick-off is from 7pm at the Lancashire FA County Ground.
I was correct again Leeds United U23s XI: Van den Heuvel, Sutcliffe, Ferguson, Kenneh (C), Mullen, Littlewood, Miller, Allen, Dean, Gray, McGurk Subs: Christy (GK), Coleman, Spencer, Carole, Thomas
