[QUOTE="Oldsparkey, post: 12808589, member: 1001700" He's mostly been restricted to last 10 minute cameos to influence a game when we've been behind and others are tiring.[/QUOTE] Most games then
I work with Cardiff City supporters, and I’ve all I’ve heard from them, is almost word perfect of your assessment of him Spark plug. It’s like Colin just wanted to buy someone from us to take that bitter pill of buying Tomlin from us away, but didn’t know what or how to play him.
I'm surprised at the whole Reid thing tbh. Warnock - love him or hate him - is a very shrewd and experienced manager. He will be fully aware of his own 'style' and which players are best suited to it. Reid is not one of those - everyone on both sides of the Severn can see that. Warnock must have known that too - he's not stupid - yet he buys him anyway - it doesn't make sense. If he did it simply to piss us and LJ off then it backfired on him, on Cardiff and on Reid. Would Warnock have been so petty to do this? More importantly would the Cardiff board let him spend £10m of their funds for no reason other than to take a stab at one of the Johnsons? I suppose you could argue that if Reid had stayed with us and had a repeat of his previous season then he might have given us the goals we needed to make the playoffs - or even an automatic place, so job done. Probably not - too many ifs and maybes for me. None of it makes sense to me!!!
Perhaps I worded it wrong, I’m not saying that’s why he bought him. Just that it seems like the reason he did. Why spend £10 million then not play him? To me if I was on the board at Cardiff I would be seriously questioning as to why do it. Plus another £11 million on the other player that’s £21 million that they will struggle to get back. However he may of been thinking Cardiff won’t stay in the Prem so build a solid championship team to do what WBA done those years ago by not overspending and bouncing between championship and premier league to be stronger and last more than one season there.
He was a one season sensation, would he have done it again not so sure. 10 million was cracking business. however this season we have struggled for goals and he could off been the difference between a playoff spot or not. Remember the season before he was not first choice and struggled to get into the side.
If he was a one season wonder, then surely his goals last season wouldn’t of been much to make a difference to our season?
I'd have Sheffield Wednesday in the top 6 next year with Bruce, they weren't far off and were decent under him in charge
Nah, Palace were far better than us - a really good side. The previous game at Fulham was the cruncher - we (Warnock?) played it all wrong. Sat back and tried to pinch it and lost the game 1-0. No excuses otherwise, not even some of the diabolical refereeing decisions that went against can hide the fact that overall, we weren't good enough. Hey Ho guys - we meet again.
If we can break away from Brexit for a minute - very important I know, but let's get back to footy as well. Just looking down the list of Championship teams for this upcoming season and wondering who you regard as historic rivals in there - I can't see any obvious ones other than ourselves. We've got a few to look forward to - you Wurzel guys, the Jacks down west, and the "big club" Leeds oop north are certainly three with a bit more than a passing interest. As often said, all games are worth 3 points but there seems a bit more at stake sometimes. Some of you guys may have personal opinions about individual clubs through past experiences, but are there any general inter-club ones for you that I've missed?
For us (well, me) its: 1. Cardiff (for banter, not hatred) 2. Millwall (I suspect they are on everyone’s list!) 3. Leeds 4. Swansea (again, for banter - no hatred) Reading and Brentford are both closer but I quite like them actually - I don’t feel a sense of proper rivalry with them.
