in the second table problem is the other way round as more played than number of results so it's probably that 1 loss is in wrong table

I think they have formulas that auto link together so one is off the are all off.

in any event i'm sure it tells us Chelsea are not good against top opposition so we can take that plus a 4-1 thrashing as our confidence rather than panic about them drawing with city while hanging on for dear life for 30mins or more.

    Top contributors for goals

Salah 19 goals 9 assists 28 games 63% shot accuracy
Nunez 14 goals 11 assists 38 games 52% shot accuracy
Jota 14 goals 4 assists 28 games 56% shot accuracy
Gakpo 11 goals 4 assists 38 games 49% shot accuracy
Diaz 10 goals 3 assists 36 games 56% shot accuracy.

All 5 are chipping in but the difference in assists is surprising and i'd have wanted more form diaz in his position

Our top assist maker is now nunez. salah and trent both injured and both on 9. Macallister and bradley then shipping in 5 a peice.

25 goal contributions in 38 appearances so far for the mad lad
28 in 28 for the Egyptian king.

I've thought this about Diaz for a while. Brilliant player to watch but his end product needs to improve.

    Any stats on Diaz?

This is the thing with Diaz.....he's too predictable and the end product is not there often enough

I think he's been freed by klopp this year to roam but also is filling in at rw.

he was utterly anonymous last weekend at RW. move back to lw and hes creating danger.

when he is running at players he is good and he is finishing well but he creates no chances

his overall stats are 83 games 21 goals 13 assists so 83 games and 34 goal involvements sounds a bit better.

Shots taken = 2.1 per game
    On target 1.13 per game

this season in 26 league games
His "xA" or expected assists is 4.11 compared to actual at 3. So its not like people miss a lot of the chances he makes.
His crosses is 17. on 0.87 per game and successful crosses is 5. total.
He has 73 dribbles or 3.74 per game and a 50% success rate.
he has been dispossessed 47 times in 26 games so thats not too good.

In the unseen part of the game:
    Tackles 20
    Intercepts 2
Ground duels 269 (pressing) won 111 of those
    6 clearances
has been dribbled past 16 times or 0.82 times per game.

That suggests he presses well and thats all part of our success.

For me is does sit deeper like mane used to, he does close the lanes down and he does press. When he gets the chance to run 1 on 1 he is dangerous and has earned us pens and put players in trouble.

    Yes you'd want more assists.

I said at the start of the season I want more from diaz. He came in and was brilliant for that last 4 months of the season, injecting some spark into the attack that was missing.

He then had horrible injuries and missed a lot and was stop start. Was hoping this season he’d push on and really cement his place and chip in. I think he’s prob scoring the expected amount, I don’t see him as a forward in same way as the others, more a tricky winger who will dribble and maybe get 10-15 goals in all comps. But I expect a few more assists.

He seems to have lost the ability to go past a man in tight spaces a bit though. Was one thing he offered that others didn’t. Some skill to go past crowded defences.

still think he’s important as he’s so different to the rest though.

I think it’s hard to judge them all by stats.

Salah has set the bar so high that everyone else’s numbers look average in comparison. But then if you compare them to the other wide forwards in the league they’re about there.

You also have to take into account most teams will have a settled front 3 plus a back up. Where as other than Salah, the 4 others are all rotated and competing and if they all get 10 goals each, that’s 40 goals.

i think most teams would take 40 goals from their remaining wide players in a team. Ours are jusg spread across more players

If we compare to jarred Bowen who is getting some plaudits (and having to play as quasi striker)

17 goals and 5 assists in 33 games.

So yeah diaz doesn't look quite as good as that but look at kudos who everyone was raving about pre AFCON. 10 goals and 3 assists in 30 games.

Diaz is playing a role for us, I think we all agree more assists would drive us on even more but his numbers stack up against the likes of say Hwang on 11/3, son on 13/6 or martinelli on 7/4

Given we have an emphasis on hitting salah on the break and really diaz is living off the remainders and balls in form side when salah has to cross he does ok.

His job is also to aid that press., I'd say we are getting value for what we are asking. Could we get more out of a nunez on the left and jota down the middle? Maybe (probably) but woudl the rest of the game njot be as good? I don't know.

Around his end product. How many chances does he actually create? How successful is he when dribbling? How many shots did he take? Etc

Edit; seen you've already posted it, cheers

Definitely, and he attracts the defenders attention freeing space for others, just need Diaz to pick his head up a bit more.

Been here before though haven't we? With Salah. Difference is, Salah was getting a lot more goals.

We definitely perform better when Diaz is in the side, same with Nunez.

I think we have to start most games with one of those 2 minimum.

I think if I was to pick a starting front 3 for city or a final it would be Nunez Jota Salah.

Just feel without diaz or Nunez you lose some pace and running ability to stretch teams.

Jota gakpo are too similar in that always want it to feet, Jota is just far superior finisher so gets the nod.

But when we’ve had both Jota and gakpo (especially with Elliott at rw) everything is so static and teams can push up a lot higher on us to squeeze the space.

another block is done, a smaller update this time

Top 7 super league scum table:

    upload_2024-3-11_8-13-44.png

    Block of 4:

    upload_2024-3-11_8-14-36.png

    Top half form:

    Games played 13
    Goals scored 24
    Goal conceded 17
    Games won 5
    Games drawn 6
    Games lost 2
    Win ratio 38%
    Draw ratio 46%
    Loss ratio 15%
    Goals per game 1.85
    Goals conceded per game 1.3
    Points per game 1.62

In short we have 5 games left agains ttop half clubs, with wolves going top half now maybe its actually 6. We have drawn more than we win But we have played 10 out of 12 top 6 games.

IMO this league will be decided agaisnt the top half sides
    Brighton (H)
    Utd (A)
    West ham (A)
    Spurs (H)
    Villa (A)

Those away games are big asks to get perfect.

    Bottom half form
    Games played 15
    Goals scored 41
    Goal conceded 10
    Games won 14
    Games drawn 1
    Games lost 0
    Win ratio 94%
    Draw ratio 6%
    Loss ratio 0%
    Goals per game 2.73
    Goals conceded per game 0.67
    Points per game 2.87

    Still nearly perfect.
    Everton (A)
    Sheff Utd (H)
    Palace (H)
    Fulham (A)
    Wolves (H)

It looks to me like these are one desperate side, one relegation side who cant' defend and will bottle it at anfield if we get an early goal. a palace side on the beach, a fulham side on the beach and I sincerely hope a wolves side who are not close enough to get a european slot if they draw.

Our projected points tally is now 87 but we could get 94. I don't think we can afford to drop 7 points on the run in and have any chance at a title.

Spurs have a game in hand and believe still play all 3 at the top back to back to back! Could have huge impact in title race, especially if they’re within 7/8 points of all 3 as well

Once he keeps positive he's a good player.

When he goes into the shell and just starts passing back and shuffling about filling a space then he's worse than useless.

When positive he can be a good player. Play forward, press up, carry theball with intent to break the lines.

This is btw the same reason I think grealish is ****e. He just runs sideways most of the time looking for contact or lay offs and simply rarely looks to create with intent.

I've always said the same about players like say nasri. Far far too easy to play against as they don't threaten

Elliott did well Sunday because he played with intent and actually made interceptions and real presses but alas looked to play people in.

Theres been times in the past where he's changed a gsme by injecting that bit of willingness to press when we were going nowhere so tjst what I want to see from.him

    That doesn't change through advice.

Be positive and drive on. Don't fall into that bad pattern. That makes all the difference.
