It means he's not good enough to get in their team. Look at his record this season for proof. Look at last season's record to confirm the proof & have a peep at the season before lasts if you're still in doubt.
Well Brucey fancies him otherwise he would not have tried earlier in the year. I think he knows more about footy than you or me.
I don't doubt that, but my opinion of Long is that he's not what we need also his record suggests he's a Championship performer but not up to scratch at this level. Long would be a bigger risk than someone currently performing in the Championship.
You keep saying this about his record 'proving' things. I assume you're just talking about goals, which simply isn't proof of how good a player is regardless of their position. Even if it was, there's nothing to prove that he'll maintain that record, many players score a lot one season and not the next, and vice versa.
Suggests does not mean prooves I could go with that PLT if Long was good one season & poorer the next but Long has been consistently poor for 2 1/2 seasons now. The only time he's ever scored more than 9 in a season was in the championship. His assist record is equally as poor as his scoring record. What is there to suggest his assist or scoring record will improve if he signs for us?
I don't think his scoring or assisting record would improve really. What I do think is that scoring less than 10 goals in the PL does not mean you're a poor player. People on here are obsessed with looking at goal records of strikers and concluding they must be **** if it's low. There are clearly many factors which affect this. Heskey used to get picked for England while scoring hardly any goals because his appeal was away from the goalmouth. There's much more to assessing a footballer than just who scores the most goals.
It's so hard to get a player who will score you 10 premier league goals I a season though A consistent one will cost a fortune You can get lucky ala michu but even he's way off last seasons pace, as is benteke to some extent
Every team needs goals, but it's nowhere near as simple as "Graham and Sagbo don't score goals, so we'll sign someone who does." There are reasons why they aren't scoring many. Other players could well have the same problems. Unless we signed someone like Van Persie you can't just guarantee that a particular player will suddenly start scoring in a team like ours, where the strikers don't currently even get any decent chances.
Well **** me up the arse & brand me a **** for expressing an opinion on a website designed for expressing opinions.
That's my point with Long he neither scores or creates enough chances. He's not what we need. We need someone who'll create enough chances for our current strikers to take or a striker who'll take more of the chances we currently create. Long, IMO, will not achieve either of these.
Maybe we should forget Long and sign that West Brom striker with a beard, he has scored two today already
