2012 ish for me...had the same name on the BBC 606 site. Tried JA 606 but found it boring then found here.
It will be 10 years for me on Tuesday. I've not seen any other site where people can write a few coherent sentences so nice to be on here.
I plucked up courage and joined on February 22nd 2012 after lurking for ages. I had never been on any forum before and was not very experienced with computers. In those days Spurf used to put out occasional appeals to lurkers to come & join in which made the sight sound friendly & welcoming so I succumbed I have enjoyed those 9 & a quarter years very much as I have been unable to watch my team live for many years now but still feel more in the know of whats going on listening to you lot! I certainly don't agree with everything you say though especially calling certain players 'dross' etc. What does that do for confidence & self esteem and as for poor Winksy I just hoped he never read any of it! I know what your thinking "shouldn't allow old women on here" but I don't care. At least I saw all the Double etc, etc Seriously though, I love this forum and check in every day, Long may it reign & thank you to the Mods for a grand job. COYS
I love having you, Maggie, and other, shall we say, ‘more experienced’ posters on here. As someone who didn’t grow up with Spurs in my immediate family or friends it’s so great to hear the stories and anecdotes from the true glory days that others may have grown up on but I missed out on. Long may it continue Such a great part of the mix of posters we have on here.
I joined in 2015 after a number of years on JA. Sadly that site took its moniker far too seriously and within a year or two it had descended into 'just another' 606, complete with all the trimmings of sanctimonious bellends ruining sensible debate and pig headed Mods with doctorates from the Piskie School of Forum Self-Destruction. Took a while to find this place as @brb prefers to keep new members guessing as to when (if at all) their membership will be accepted. I think I waited 4 months during which time certain sums of money "rested" in my account while on their way to an unspecified firm "running oil rigs". Truth be told when I finally got the confirmation email through I'd completely forgotten i'd ever submitted it . Made the fatal error of logging out of my account during that period when the site was playing up so got locked out for a number of months before giving up and rebooting the CK profile back in 2019. In the year or so I spent lurking on various fora after quitting JA, nothing even came close to the level of banter and genuinely fascinating, intelligent, lively yet respectful debate on this site. Really good range of ages (helps we don't seem to have any posters younger than 25 though. Massively), backgrounds and temperaments. Oh and I still hold the record for most points gained in a single week for SD's prediction league. So when you say 'no medal'...
Maggie we all love that you are on here. You only have to look at the response whenever you post. You are real Spurs and have so much history. I can honestly say that when ever you agree with something I have posted about Spurs it feels like a real accolade and causes a real buzz. So glad you enjoy the site. For me, living in Scotland, this site is a real link to my London roots.
I am quite a 'junior' poster in terms of time served (just 6 years), though senior to many of you in terms of age. I was recommended to join this site by a Gills fan who is a closet Spurs fan (@AshfordGill). I didn't contribute much initially, but have gradually got more confidence that my opinions would be met by tolerant fans who enjoy the debate and that is what makes this forum almost unique in my experience. And in case anyone is in any doubt as to my name
9 August 2011. Hard to believe it's nearly 10 years. Thanks to Changingman for posting that video of ELO doing 10538 Overture (Jeff Lynne looked much younger then)
Been here nine years after trying JA606 and somebody popped on to mention that they'd had a brilliant idea: start a forum for Old606 users that doesn’t directly copy the Old606 format - including everything that was bloody awful about it How many threads vanished into the ether because only people who commented in them could ever find the sodding things?
