Get rid. He played like total shyte against Germany, gave up a penalty with a poor tackle, and got substituted at the half, and nobody missed him, Australia played much better in the 2nd half after he left. He's lost the plot. I want him gone. I've never rated him, but like any decent footballer he would have his good days and bad days, but he's far too inconsistent, and to not step up in a game like today against Germany at the Confed Cup, goes to show you he's lost it.
Decent enough for our level. I like him. But I suppose if he had a crap half in one game we should get rid.
And replace with someone of exactly the same standard, or a tiny bit worse, with less vowels in his name.
And replace with quite a bit worse if we are being consistent with the transfer business of the last 3 seasons.
I'm sure we can now consider Conference League fair game for the upcoming season, heck, we may even find us a manager there as well!
Massimo Luongo – 2.5: A player who is playing as a shadow of his former self. Playing in the number six role he failed to provide any sort of protection for his back four while also giving the ball away far too easily. An absolute nightmare as he was withdrawn at half-time.
Have any of our squad 'developed' over the past 12 months? As someone who was pleased that Ollie returned, he has been our biggest disappointment.
This is a very emotive topic. Generally, I have the impression that players seem to "regress" once they put on our hooped shirt. There certainly is not a long list of "developed players" over the last 12 months, however I must state Manning, as he came from nowhere and established himself well in the 1st team. I hope that there will be more such pleasant surprises next season.
None of our players would look good against Germany FFS. Yes he should score more but the bloke's stats are very good and he's shown he can be excellent in certain games, mostly away from home which doesn't do his cause much good.
He had a much better game today. Though Australia didn't qualify, he clearly took criticism to heart and put in a much better shift. He got a yellow card in the first half but stayed in the game and kept his pace up throughout and did his best to chase everything down. Even nearly scored but for a good save by Bravo. Hey at least Oz tied it with that tough Golden Generation Chile team! Of course Chile was without Medel in the sweeper position but all they needed was a draw anyway.
