at long bloody last...http://www.gillinghamfootballclub.com/news/article/martins-cody-message-july-10-905883.aspx
He has done well there, very happy with this one and on a free makes it even better. Well done Scally and Allen.
It is one of the best deals that I have seen, we have played the long game and waited so that Coventry just let him go on a free, some clubs would just go and pay when there is no need to.
Fantastic news. I reckon the squad is beginning to look very good now. I would imagine the free transfer bit will be offset by a large(r) wage, a hefty agents fee and probably a decent signing-on fee for Cody to bolster his wages, which I doubt are now anywhere near what he was on at Cov. Anyway, welcome back Cody. If him and Ade can reignite their partnership and be now assisted by Keds, The Decent German and maybe Birch as well, our forward options are looking pretty decent.
I reckon that Birchall will now leave as 5 strikers is probably one too many. Also with Weston who can play upfront as well that makes it 6 options which is too many. The only way that this would work is if we were to play 4-3-3 and this is something that I doubt we will see and is probably not the best option.
Lineup next season is as folloows I promise you - Nelson Fish Legge Barrett Martin Whelpdale Linganzi Dack Kedwell Bayo Cody
That does look good but what about Gregory? I think Linganzi will turn out to be a good signing though so this would be a good team which I think will be great at this level. I still think we need at least one more midfielder as a back up due to the likely departure of Charlie Lee as that will only leave us with 6 professionals for midfield. I think that we have done well to sign Akinfenwa, Linganzi and Cody Mac all on free transfers, these are 3 very good signings and I would be happy if this is all that we sign now as this is good enough for the first team however all we need is the back up for midfield but we could utilize the loan market which is what I expect that we may do so that we don't spend too much on wages.
Two goal scores on free transfers! Mr Scally we salute you! There won't be any other teams getting near signing two proven goal scores for nothing
Yeah Scally is very good at this. He saves money from selling players and still manages to make our team stronger. Got to say well done to the man.
Can I just say that a couple of months ago I got ripped into for suggesting that we might have 7 strikers with German and Cody. Now look at it! Only difference is that we have Bayo instead of Deon. Here's the link for those who doubted me http://www.not606.com/showthread.php/213883-Strikeforce
I know people might not believe this as there has been very little mentioned in the press or on the forums, but, I have spotted something suggesting that we have signed Cody. My question is has anyone else heard this, does anyone know anything about him, is he any good, will he fit in? I hate it when we sign a player no one has ever heard of.
