Never happy about losing but I was not bothered about the cup so not too bothered we lost tbh. The quality level been us and Man City is abundantly massive once a couple of changes to the starting elevens have been made.
Oh well, didn't want to win it anyway. Shame Darwin had his boots on the wrong way round though. Coot is a perfectly useless ref. "He's letting a lot go" is commentatorish for "He's ****e". Rodri should have had a yellow for his first half kick out at Carvalho. Got to say though, it was refreshing not to have VAR stopping the game for a few minutes every few minutes - took me back to the old days.
Nunez needs to go back to just smashing it at goal unless there is someone standing unmarked in the box . Rather Bajcetic stay on than Ox and/or Keita .
Thing is they say about letting things go. Then you see a small touch on a defender and a foul given. Player touches the keeper and it’s a foul. It’s so inconsistent with 90% of little nudges being fouls but then not giving a yellow for a guy kicking out a player then pushing a player over. Not then booking another player for running into 2 players squaring up and pushing one over… This whole letting the game flow just doesn’t work. No ref is consistent with it. They seem to want to let some things go that most people think are fouls and it means players have no idea what is and isn’t allowed
The most important thing is city completely deserved to win this game, irrespective of home town rubbish ref or anything else. Our reserves were absolutely tosh Kellehers kicking was pathetic Gomez has a complete lack of awareness as a defender. Matip was awful in terms of just getting himself in the right postion to not put his other team mates under pressure. Phillips is woeful Keita came on and never ran one jot. Not one jot. Ox came one, did one good thing then proceeded to also forget to work and run. Milner was a massive unnecessary risk just cos it worked last time. I dont want to be down on kids like carvalho and bajcetic, klopp stuck them in there and long term they just have to learn from it. Nunez decided to run every channel but his own and got in 3 times in Sarah's channel and never got the ball on target once. Salah decided back heels were the only passes allowed which was hilarious. Someone said lfc needed 250mil as a pundit...well.. the issue it for some that'll buy 2 players and this team needs 5. We are not getting close to city again imo
I don’t think he can’t take it I think he knows exactly what he is doing I would also imagine it’s the gaffa’s orders
Fairly confident I saw De Bruyne kick the ball away deliberately and nothing (could be wrong though - strangely it never got replayed)
Not sure I can agree on the whole didn’t want to win it stuff I think this year especially- we should have been trying as it is unlikely we will be involved in Prem or CL in the later stages (not impossible just unlikely) Winning trophies is a habit imho - I think my annoyance at apathy towards the League cup is well documented on here lol so I won’t bleat on - sorry
I think normal season then maybe. But first game back after WC with 5/6 squad members still missing and rest of the team trying to get back into match fitness then was always going to be a game that could have gone either way. With citys fsr superior squad depth was always likely to be a tough one. I think the league and top 4 is now the priority for the rest of the season unfortunately so all eggs in that basket and risking a stronger squad yesterday possibly at the detriment to the villa game would have been silly.
The depth of squad was laid bare last night. We started with our 3rd and 4th choice CB’s (but harsh on Matip), 36 year old Milner at RB and Bajcetic, Elliot and Thiago against KdB, Gundigan and Rodri were in Midfield…..and their bench was obscene. I don’t know what the future holds for us but City will dominate until Newcastle build up the same level…….I’m afraid that the rest won’t get a look in.
You are all right. De bruyne dis kick ball away Gundogan did push over fabinho Rodri would get 3 yellows in if the ref wasn't paid off. Yes once Newcastle spend 1bil the prem will become the battle of the despots.
It could have been worse. .if there's no signings Jan 1 there's going to be an explosion of fan unrest. See man utd waiting on fernandes and costing themselves 4th.
I was pleased Salah got one, and Carvalho, but Nunez's finishing is diabolical. He has a long, long way to go and he's nowhere near worth the £85 million we paid for him. As for Gomez . I hate calling out players, but seriously we can't keep on putting our blind faitth in passengers who do nothing. I also hear a new contract is in line for Keita. Why, when he spends half his time injured?
