Man City’s Champions League ban overturned by Court of Arbitration for Sport. Fine reduced to €10m (from €30m) for not co-operating with investigation.
RIP Financial Fair Play 2009-2020 Murdered by Man City after already being stabbed several times by PSG.
The really daft thing about this, is that UEFA breached their own rules with the penalty they applied and it seems there was almost no chance of it not being overturned, which makes you wonder why they bothered applying it and then fighting it.
The fact you can spend your way out of the anti-spending regulations says it all. And a £10m fine? For a club with the money they have? Why even ****ing bother at all? Essentially, it goes like this: Big club with stupid money or state sponsorship? Spend all you want! Any team not in the top 6 of their country? **** YOU. All FFP truly did was protect the big team's holds on the top, stopping lower clubs from catching up by punishing them for attempting to do so. It did the exact opposite of what it was supposedly meant to do, though honestly, with UEFA, that might've been the plan all along.
I mean, this is life isn't it really? The people that benefit the most from major changes are the people that need it the least.
I’d read some of Martin samuels columns on this. The elite didn’t like Man City crashing their party. So they ganged up on them
As a neutral I like watching their style of play*, and if they pissed of the elite good, though they just become part of a new elite. (*impressed with Wolves yesterday)
One of the review panel members has allegedly been caught saying: 'Those brown paper bags didn't half help to clear up this misunderstanding...'
Definitely getting tight in the European places with Man City buying their way back in... Man Utd play Southampton tonight, so that's the game in hand.
The one saving grace for me is that it is midnight here when the game starts and I ****ed if I am staying up to watch them play. I will just hope I wake up, looking through my fingers at the score and hope beyond hope we got a result.
