Champions league time again, all a bit meh for me but what can you do, qualification for this is the ultimate goal so now we're it, we might as well try to win it, right? Game against an actual up an coming coach in Julian Nagelsmann, one to keep an eye on and maybe recruit? Rather than next available in line on the big name European merry go round type of guy. Anyway, I digress. The 3/5 at the back worked very well against PSG so I would like to see it repeated, which means that Ole and his cohorts will likely go 4 4 2 at home because, you know, we're United, so........ My team of choice; __________________________________de Gea____________________________________ ___________________Tuanzebe_______Maguire_________Lindelof___________________ AWB___________________________________________________________________Telles __________________________________Fred_______________________________________ __________Fernandez______________________________________van de Beek______________ ____________________________Rashford_____________________________________________ ______________________________________Cavani___________________________________ Subs; McTominay, Shaw, Henderson, Martial, James, Pogba, Mata
that's the team I've just suggested on the Rebuild thread lol. Leipzig are going to be a real challenge tonight. They heavily focus play through their full-backs and wingers up until the final third. They'll use those fb's to push as many as 6 players up and occupy the opposition's back line, even against opponents with 3 cbs and 2 wing backs. We should be winning this but we haven't yet won at home this season so I'm not taking this game lightly. I think it's going to be harder than the game against PSG.
Leipzig midfielders Tyler Adams, Konrad Laimer, defender Marcel Halstenberg, right-back Lukas Klostermann all out for today's game. That's a big plus for us.
Didn't see this line up coming ....... De Gea, Wan-Bissaka, Lindelof, Maguire, Shaw, Fred, Matic, Pogba, Van De Beek, Greenwood, Martial. Subs: Henderson, Fosu-Mensah, Mengi, Tuanzebe, Williams, Fernandes, James, Mata, McTominay, Cavani, Ighalo, Rashford.
I don't see Matic being necessary. Glad dvdb is starting a game but Fred could have gone to DCM and either Rashford or Mata play instead of Matic. It just seems too many changes and too much pragmatism. I'm OK with Bruno getting a rest, no issue with that, it's the other pissing about.
Happy for DvB starting and it'll be interesting to see how he plays with Pogba. But the rest doesn't make sense to me. I don't want to sound negative but where are our goals coming from?
Isn't Greenwood suppose to be the best finisher since, like, ever? Him maybe? And Martial. Got no issue with up front, I just don't like the 2 DCM negativity. BBC sport have got Fred playing off the right! Ok, let's just ignore that ****, eh. He's an 8.
Ok fair enough, but I was thinking more of a proper striker. No Rashford, Ighalo or Cavani. And if those two are scoring then I still go back to... where is our width? Having said that, Ole got the starting line up and tactics right against PSG so hoping he's done it again tonight.
And what's happened to young Brandon? 12 subs in a cup game and no mention of him, i hope we don't **** it up and lose him.
1 up at half-time but fck me we have to play better than that in the 2nd half. Seems like nobody knows who's playing where.
Don't forget this side are currently the leaders of the Bundesliga, unbeaten home or away and they've scored 12 in 5 games - just for context .............
I think Greenwood is probably the most clinical striker i have seen at OT since Ruud, he just doesn't miss.
No mate I'm not talking about them. I'm talking about us. Can you see a formation? We're all over the place. Nobody can string 2 passes together. We can't get out of our own half. Only silver lining is the goal and DvB who's been good btw.
Very fast feet in tight situations and good movement off the ball. Fred has played some awful passes which he had mostly stopped doing lately.
