People flock to place bets when a story is released and the odds shorten due to the sudden influx of people placing money on that particular bet - which I'm assuming you already know! To suggest that a deal is likely due to happen to the odds a bookies are giving is absolutely ludicrous.

****ing hope so. Sky Sports News have just said they "understand" he's in Vodka Revolutions on Deansgate to sign the deal so I've had £10,000 in my Skybet account on him to score the first goal against Sunderland tomorrow.

    Cheers Sky.

Have you just thrown a few Bob on Rooney to join Chelsea Drogs?

    21:19

Wayne Rooney’s odds on joining Chelsea this month have been trimmed from 6/1 to 4/1 as

the Blues are thought to have asked for the England striker to be involved in a deal that would see Juan Mata move to Manchester United. Mata is now 4/9 to join United this month.

No but I might do and then use my power of odds changing to suggest Rooney will be joining us :D

Well the odds on it happening are getting shorter even without your cunning strategic plan.

It really isn't ludicrous at all, what is the first thing you would do if you had some inside information on something happening? Sky sources are not the sources I'm talking about. Juan Mata has friends, his agent has friends, David Moyes has friends, and I'm sure there are countless other people involved, or that know from inside knowledge that a deal is likely, and they've probably gone down the bookies with a wheel barrow.

It's like on betfair (I assume you know how that works) A horse can just suddenly drift for an ante post race like the Derby, it might be 3/1 in the morning and then all of a sudden it's available at 25/1. Then a couple of days later you find out the horse has picked up an injury in training. So you then know that the stable staff, and other people who were in the know where on Betfair laying the horse for all they're worth knowing full well the horse was injured, before the injury becomes public news.

People that are having £5 and £10 on Mata moving, that are watching SSN do not move the markets. It's the serious players with thousands, that move the markets, and there is no one in there right mind that would bet serious money based on sky sources

A continental club could come at the last minute and better any offer Utd make, so all the wheelbarrow's full of money would stay in the bookies pocket.

Its only paper talk but Marca are saying Bayern, Inter and Napoli are now interested in signing him.

The mirror say that we will offer him a 4 year deal.

  13. Fergie would never have been tempted by such a move. He targeted his player and that's who he wanted. Wouldn't surprise me if Moyes was swayed although I'd be a little gutted to see Costa join you lot.

Do you not realise how many millions of idiots actually believe the papers and sky sports news? Of course it would move the markets.

Having worked in the betting industry myself I can assure you it wouldn't, head office only get alerted when there are large bets placed. No betting shop is going to ring up and alert betting control if they've taken a few fivers and tenners on Mata moving
