If I was a ref and I saw someone encroaching on the box during a pen I would make them take it again until it didn't break the rules. I'd also give a penalty straight away for any shirt-pulling in the box.
The commentator even mentioned that he had seen this previously but not since Chris Chilton for the Tigers against Leeds united . I cant remember the commentators name but he regularly commentates on them and is a known Hull City supporter . Edit . Just remembered Rob Palmer his name .
i was reading this thread in utter astonishment until i reached this post because it appeared that nobody was aware of it happening in a testimonial match at boothferry park in the early 1970s, perhaps chris chilton's.
Yep, I remember this. Pretty sure Giggs did it for Man U recently as well (and the ref didn't blow up)
Technically it was only kicked by Ernie Hunt. Willie Carr just flicked it up into the air with both heels Skill like that should be allowed not out-lawed by the cheap suits. It is one of my all time favourite goals.
Yes it is. Was out lawed not long afterwards. This type of skill / goal is why you go to football matches. Nothing wrong with it as I explained earlier. The Messi / Suarez penalty is funny by its piss take. Shame Henry and Robert Pires messed up a similar one for Arsenal @ Highbury a few years back.
Technically, the ref didn't deem Carr to have kicked it twice by using both feet (heels), therefore the goal should have been disallowed according to the indirect free kick rules. Had Carr flicked it up with only one foot, then it would have been within the rules. It was a stunning goal mind.
Don't understand what your first question is referring to...is it the first bit you highlighted ? Providing the ball had moved at least the distance of the circumference of the ball before the second player touched the ball, yes (in answer to your second highlighted point).
The first highlight was yours. I can't recall seeing a free kick goal where a player hooked the ball up for someone else to volley.
Aye, sorry. so it was. I haven't seen it done either exactly that way...but this is the closest to what I described is possible (and legal)...and if anyone could have done it, it would have been Le Tissier or Georgie Best. I think Le Tissier's is about 3 or 4 goals in on this clip
