All eyes on Kempton as Shishkin makes his eagerly awaited chase debut. Could possibly be the middle leg of a treble for the forum's favourite trainer
I wouldn't write off Sangha River at 10/1 Lto gave Mrs Hyde 7lb and was btn 8¾l in track record time - at Kempton. Mrs Hyde then beat Verdana Blue a neck giving her 2lb If this race is run at track record pace, who knows how Shishkin will fare on chasing debut. Will probably win impressively but I would not want to be risking anything at 6/1 on
Supreme Novice form versus beaten by a half decent mare. You can see why the prices are what are on show. However with new obstacles and lack of race fitness, you’d be brave to be backing at those odds.
What they call beef goulash here - and the yanks would call it chuck steak I think? Needs plenty of cooking to get it soft. Not sure what it would be in the UK?
I’ve pretty much “cubed” everything - I want a nice thick hearty stew with plenty of chunks per spoonful - beef, carrots, potato, parsnip, celeriac, leek and onion. Some Bovril for flavour . Doing some Yorkshire puddings with it. No idea what his lordship would make of that - 7/10 perhaps?
Braising Steak if you shop in a supermarket but Chuck Steak if you use a decent butchers. Nice work! whole Herefordshire roast chicken here with a potato dauphinois. The joy of Sunday’s
Nearly ready ........ Not sure what it is like in the UK these days but in Berlin I would not know where there is a butcher. Many of the supermarkets have butchers counters but I really cannot think of a butchers shop anywhere. I always buy organic meat unless I want a lovely steak from the barbecue - then I go to the local Turkish supermarket. They have a fresh meat counter with sensational ribeye steaks. Absolutely stunning but no idea where they are from or how the animals were treated. It’s the one exception I make (maybe 3 times per year) to my “buy organic meat” rule.
Bovril in a stew it would be a game changer if I was ordering it out and I saw that, but I would trust your Cheffing ability and try it everything else sounds mouth - watering.
5:15 Chelmsford - Gumra 7/2. I don't normally back horses going for the hatrick but have backed this one for its last 4 runs and see no reason why it can't get the hatrick here.
Oooh I often use a spoonful of Bovril to flavour beef dishes - beef stew, cottage pie. Gives a lovely beefy tang. Sometimes just make a cup of Bovril on cold days too, lovely - a teaspoon full in a cup of boiling water, stir and enjoy
