I was there for that one...Gallas was standing on the goal line when he headed in the winner with no City player within two yards and no City player touching the ball....Riley didn't want City in the semi final of the cup, and promptly went about making sure it didn't happen.
First away match against Leeds, we lost 4-3 but the fans backing was immense and we were possibly dicked at the end by a ref adding on too much time
Tampa Bay Rowdies. 1984. We actually won 3-0 but lost the American style ‘shoot out’ where the larker sets off from the half way line and tries to score a goal. I got mugged by an older city fan on Bunkers. If I find out it was one of you you’d better watch out. Best move out of the area, country even. ****ers.
Spurs nil nil was my first thought, followed by the 5-4 loss against Rotherham back in the 90s, coming back from 5-1 down to nearly snatch a draw was mental
Was stood at the front of the south stand for that one, mate of mine was stewarding, he turned around and full time utterly stunned to see it was 3-3, he'd not realised Torquay had scored as they only had about 40 fans there that day.
City 2 Stoke city 3 One of my best memories ever as it was also the first time my dad came on bunkers with me and he was shouting and singing as much as me... Went to the Blackburn game when the fog came down with my dad as well He never come with me when it was replayed Stockport away in the fa cup early 70s 0-0 but a great day was had by all
PS. City 1 v Burnley 4 Never ever thought I would see CITY play again but I did First game I got to after a couple of years thanks to my Mac Nurse taking me I forgive him for being a Burnley fan ( born in colne ) Got revenge going to Scarborough 4 Colne 0 with Mac Nurse .
I was at the United game with my red in-laws and they were definitely getting worried. Utd wasted so many chances. At one point they had Ronaldo Rooney Tevez Giggs and Berbatov on the pitch
To win the FA cup would have been unbelievable, but for me i could see it wasn't to be our day. Even 2 up I expected Brucies backs to the wall approach would cost us. Once they had got 1 back i felt it was all over, just a matter of time. On the other hand the 3 - 4 loss at Old Trafford was all about us, All their superstars and we were making a comeback, driving forward right to the end. Felt so proud of my team that day.
I had no idea this was a real thing. I remember doing them as a competition on City's football camps in the school holidays but never realised they'd been used in a real match.
Yep, that was commonplace in the old NASL and when the MLS first came back. It's essentially a hockey penalty.
I seem to recall a pretty raucous atmosphere in our 0-0 draw v Huddersfield in 2004. Quite an entertaining 0-0 from what I recall, just a pity about Ben Burgess getting crocked by their keeper. And the 1-1 draw away to Blackburn - first every away top flight match. That was a fun trip!!
I'm sure Dewhurst went close at the death. One of our goals was simply stunning, think it was our second goal at 5-2: Glyn Hodges curler into the top corner.
