Gordon Moreton died quite recently. I was at Norwich for the 2-0 win when Chilton was sent off, 70/71 ? Left Hull at midnight on the Friday and arrived at Carrow Road about half time. Don't recall Gordon being on the bus though.
This was FACup...City won 3-0.....Loads of City went on a special train and kicked off in the city centre straight away..no messing. I recall Gordon and his 'friends' orchestrating most of the violence... Didn't know that he'd gone...RIP
I enjoyed the video and all the comments. Anything that reminds me of my time in Hull fills me with pride. I lived at 120 X 21st . Couple of things, but not important, the Buckley family (all City fans including Neil) lived on 19th not 17th and the Lee brothers ( relations of mine) who owned Cavalier etc were and are all massive City fans, as are their children. It was our Roy who took me to my first City match.
Used to do mine too. Is Eric the bloke who was always in there talking to Len? Everytime I went for a cut he used to walk in so I got the impression he lived just across the road from his shop on Endike itself.
Use to give kids a handshake and see how hard a hand squeeze you could take Always said ..Swinging and Dodgey to everyone Think he was a bit daft and think he would have been thought of as dodgey nowadays But he wasn't. Just always friendly He use to do a paper round still in his 60 s Must have been the oldest paper boy in hull Daft Eric people called him
Good to read so many posters eulogising about North Hull, refreshing change from those tedious folk who would have you believe the only characterful area of Hull had been down Hessle Road.
