https://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/football/49534587 Cheers for the service and dedication over the past 6 years, but I think the time was right for everyone concerned.
I am sad to see him go and was hoping his last appearance would be in the NLD. He was our most consistent and reliable fullback since Ashley Cole, in my opinion. And whilst his pace and sharpness have inevitably declined in the last few years, he was still a perfectly capable player. He even filled in at CB when we were lacking options and got on with it without any complaints. Even with this transfer, he's kept everything quiet and fulfilled his responsibilities as a professional. I don't think opposition fans will truly understand just how good this guy was for us in his prime between 2014-2017. Adios, La Cabra. You will be missed.
My only concern is that we are extremely limited at left-back now. Tierney won't be back in full training until September, so I don't know how long it will take him to get match fit. Meanwhile, our only option there currently is Sead Kolasinac. And he isn't the greatest defensively. I wonder if Emery will play 3 at the back for this game?
Several of us nominated him for the player of the season in Wenger's last one. It does leave Emery with a short term problem though
