BlackAdder Fools and Horses Two Ronnies Dave Allen Show Rising Damp Steptoe and son Porridge Open All Hours
I was watching a programme about Porridge last night and it made me realise that when it comes to consistency i dont think it can be beaten. Its difficult to pick a favourite or least favourite episode cos they are all quality. Michael Crawford's performance in Some Mothers is up there with the best of them mind. You cant imagine anybody else playing that character.
Had me in stitches from start to finish. The daft ****er didnt even need to speak. His faces were enough.
Fawlty Towers never even raised a chuckle in my household. Not a fan of comedy where you cringe peeking through your fingers, watching someone having an embarrassing nervous breakdown every episode. Never understood why its rated so highly though i admit I am in a minority. Dont particularly like John Cleese either. I'm probably wrong but I just get the impression that he's a twat in real life as well.
amazing how just putting your finger up to the side of your mouth and going 'ooooh' can make a person laugh. Certainly one of comedies greatest performances.
Norman Wisdom could probably have been a great Frank, too Why haven't you mentioned 'George & Mildred' 'Please Sir' was brilliant, too, as was 'My wife next door' . . . . Hannah Gordon was fecking gorgeous please log in to view this image please log in to view this image
Class! I remember my grandparents watching it when I was staying over and then saying he was excellent as phantom!! I couldn't picture this funny faced "ooohh betty" as anything other than that let alone something so dark and serious!
