Been thinking about watching this but for me Martin Freeman is a bit hit and miss, love the hits but very disappointed in the misses. Will be trying this over the weekend. Thanks.

It is indeed. There’s a wonderful museum full of mechanical musical instruments; fairground organs and the like.

Astonishing high precision mechanical engineering, many of which are demonstrated if you visit.

Just don’t be surprised that it’s grim. Middle aged bloke in perpetual crisis (maybe that’s what I liked about it). Anyway, I watched it while my wife was away. Can’t imagine she’d have liked it for a minute.

Yes, been there. They still can’t replicate the ones playing the piano and violins. We were there at the time of the Christmas Market. Beautifully decorated and generous helpings of Gluewein. And Rudesheim coffee. Two or three of which can have a real effect on you.<laugh> Rudesheim coffee that is. Generous with their measures.

Agree about Rotterdam, was there a couple of months ago and really surprised at how lovely the city was.

The thing about Rotterdam is that you could be anywhere…

    Liverpool or Rome.

Yeah man, I though the same as you before I gave it a try. It's excellent. As dark as dark gets in places.

Like Brady says. The superheros are like celebrities reveared by the public. But in reality most of them are far from heroes.

Homelander is probably ones of the best ever villains. Scary as **** but not one dimensional.

Maybe Eurovision is more your tastes.

From what I remember of the first episode I thought it was just another marvel type superhero show. Have to get into it to realise it's something else completely.

I watched a documentary last night on the life of John Thaw. In it, he put down a good part of his success to Tom Courtney, who became a lifelong friend. When JT first went from his home in Manchester to RDA, TC was the only one who befriended him, and it was said without that he may well have given up and gone home.

Yes, I had an uncle who lived in Koblenz and remember him taking us to the point where the rivers meet when I was a kid.
Not been back to Germany for over 40 years but thinking about trying a Rhine cruise next year.

He did some great stuff over his career that's for sure. Was this the documentary you watched John, or another?
