Hill is incredible. It starts off with an episode about each character and their backstory but then it really steps up and the reveal is amazing. Bly went down more of a gothic horror route. It’s still a decent watch but it becomes a bit time jumpy in the middle. The cast are excellent and the reveal is good but Hill House is better.
Sounds good but I find it hard to take Sacha Baron Cohen seriously , even when he's doing 'serious' acting
I know what you mean, but he managed to change my opinion with his portrayal of Eli Cohen in The Spy.
I agree I thought he was excellent in it. A really tragic story, but a hugely entertaining portrayal of it.
I watched the Trial of the Chicago 7, it was very good but neither Sacha Baron Cohen nor Mark Rylance could manage a decent American accent
When the Levees broke! four parter made by spike lee about the devastation wrought on New Orleans by hurricane Katrina. Harrowing
I was working at a trade show at Sands in Las Vegas when Katrina hit, I happened to be taking to a customer from New Orleans when he got a call to tell him his entire store was under water, poor bloke was in tears.
Spike Lee knows his **** and tells it like it is - When the Levee Breaks is no exception. The response to Katrina was disgusting.
Spike Lee did a follow up series five years later called If God Is Willing and da Creek Don't Rise. It's just as harrowing.
I've now watched Haunting of Hill House, to compare and it's definitely better than Haunting of Bly Manor. Though I'm not a massive fan of the actress playing the nanny in Bly Manor, so I was disappointed to see that she starred in Hill House as well. Not on Netflix, but I also just watched Sister on ITV, which was a similar sort of thing. It was pretty good, other than the ending being a bit weak, it was quite obviously just setting up Sister 2.
I forgot, I also watched Contagion, which after this year, seemed more like a documentary. It's well worth a watch, not least because it's nine years old and remarkably accurate to what's happened this year. Full of all the terms that are now common to us, social distancing, R-number etc.
I watched Contagion earlier this year just after the pandemic took hold. As you say, even though it was released in 2011, the over riding plot line seems too real to be dismissed as just another work of fiction.
The Mandalorian came back last week, the first episode was great. Also anything with that baby Yoda is instantly getting a thumbs up from me, the cute little bastard.
