Quite enjoying Queens Gambit on Netflix About a freakishly good girl chess player ....better than it sounds
It was very good until she turned to drugs/alcohol etc after a shock defeat (around Episode Nine). After that I had no interest.
Just started watching the Hinterland on Netflix, apart from the fact that it's based in Wales, not a bad watch.
Just finished The Queen’s Gambit, enjoyed it, Ayne Taylor-Joy’s very good (she was in Peaky Blinders).
She's on drugs throughout isn't she , starting at the children's home where they dole them out like smarties
She’s a good actress. She was also excellent in The Minituarist on the BBC a couple years ago, and the American settlers horror film The Witch.
The adaptation of Rebecca (a personal favourite film of mine) was very good. Nobody will ever get near the original Mrs Danvers, but Kristen Scott Thomas does a good job. Armie Hammer very solid as well.
Last of DNA on BBC4. Well worth watching for anyone who hasn't seen it. Then later the final series of The Bridge. Subtitle heaven this evening.
Tried Specsavers? Seriousl, you miss out on some really good European stuff. A few bottles of beer in and a good Scandi noir is a great Saturday night in.
The Bridge, especially the first season.Though there are others,Trapped and Valhalla, both Icelandic, The Killing amongst them. Though not Scandi noir, liked the Swedish versions of Wallinger. Some good French ones as well.
I'm half way through season 2 of Designator Survivor, it's alright, but Kiefer Sutherland whispering all his words is starting to grate, so I decided to give it a break and try something else. Anyone watched The Alienist (there's no aliens in it), I'm five episodes in and it seems alright?
